Improvising
19 June 2021 Saturday Poetry Prompt: consciousness in stream

Stung lip with vice marks, with tardy breaths that labour uphill on the ground — the revitalization of the ghosts formerly occupying the redundant level of the patio table with upended bottles —
don’t get cleared — mumble into half-thought out beards — goatees which don’t deserve a home of a chin — smart and sassed out for the fashion of tolerating an immovable grunt
rewiring the constellations so we can fry them in new names — marinating the horoscope — a fresh blast wind for the targets of holes in the skin — mocking the death word flows, a new laughter
flings itself into avalanche, revising the hillscape — the frame of the next house to be perched on some nothing — or the delved earth fragmenting of the heart to pre-opened stages — induction of the anesthesia of cold archaic remorse and statements of a lying vigour —
while strapped tight to the binding block of patched pavement — a whole new scar for the organization of plight — a book on sailing that has nothing to do with wood, cloth, or current —

Prompt:
You know how sometimes a writer gets stuck on a subject? Ah, you’ve never thought of that!…yeah, alright. So I tend to fixate. Usually, this tends to be borne out by the events in our lives, other work/reading we might be doing. However, if in the midst of this environment, you begin to (consciously) ramble, it’s (sometimes) charming what you’re left with at the end. At this point in time, I’m probably liable to start (unintentionally, I assure you) repeating prompts; those of you who’ve been following along since I started doing them for Scrittura last year might be seeing some of this repetition — for which I heartily apologize. But I don’t have the energy to sort through them all to ensure total originality. In any event, I want you to pick a subject and muse around it with your streams of consciousness. As always, focus on those parts of your thinking that help create strong visuals/images (is that contradictory? I can’t wait to see what side you fall on! Ha. Okay, this is getting a little long…). Tag me in it, and rock on!
