As Robin Sharma said:

“The quality of our life is determined by the quality of our thoughts.”

Do you know how many thoughts an average person thinks in a day? Research shows that an average person has more than 6000 thoughts in a day. That’s a lot of thoughts.

What’s more shocking is that 80% of these thoughts are negative. We fill our minds with negativity all the time. We regret our past, worry about the future, and blame ourselves for everything.

This negativity impacts our daily life. It lowers our self-confidence and we start doubting ourselves. We think we can’t achieve anything in life and our life starts degrading.

Just see the impact of your thoughts. That’s why it matters what kind of thoughts you are allowing to enter your mind.

I read about the technique called ‘opposition thinking’ in the book — The monk who sold his Ferrari. I found this technique useful and I decided to share it with everyone.

Opposition Thinking

Before I explain this technique, I must tell you that you should be aware of your thoughts. Because if you are not, you won’t be able to apply this technique.

Now when you are aware of your thoughts, observe what kind of thoughts you are having. If you are having good thoughts, then let it be. However, if you are having negative thoughts, use the opposition thinking.

Opposition thinking is the strategy of thinking the opposite thoughts. For example, if you think, “I am not good enough for this job”, immediately replace it with the opposite thought — I am good enough for this job.

Use this for every negative thought you are having. I know it will be difficult initially but things will improve gradually. The goal is to reach the stage where you will only think of positive thoughts.

This process will take time. Don’t give up and believe in yourself.
