Impromptu Celebrations
The moments that matter can catch us by surprise
Today, my husband and I went to a restaurant for breakfast. We finished a 6 am conference call, and decided we’d gotten enough good news to justify celebrating. So we visited a restaurant we hadn’t been to in over a year.
In Colorado, fully vaccinated people don’t have to wear masks indoors. The waiter was also fully vaccinated. It was so wonderful to see full expressions again! That human connection enhanced the experience so much.
We lingered over our meal, savoring every part of it. I even ordered a third cup of tea. We also talked, enjoying planning for the future instead of simply reacting to the latest news.
Productivity experts might say spending two hours eating breakfast was a waste. But it filled my soul. And made my life better for having done it.
