In this exercise, you will imagine that you meet your alternate self from a parallel universe.

Imagine that you come across yourself in a cafe in London. You are shocked at first, but then you realize that this is YOU living in a parallel universe. The other version of yourself invites you for coffee. You will catch up and have a conversation about your lives. You are intrigued.

Please respond to the following questions:

  1. Please write a long and detailed description of the other you who lives an alternative life. Where does s/he live? Imagine all the details — family, career, house, friends, hobbies, travel etc. If you want to retain some (indispensable) elements from your current life, that is fine. However, this must be a different life. An alternative life that is exciting and full of more adventure perhaps?
  2. Draw or doodle about your alternative life. You can design it visually or come up with a concept map.
  3. What are the 10 things that you would like to change in your current life? In addition, what are the 5 things that are missing in your current life?
  4. What are the elements, things, or people that you would absolutely like to retain in your life, even if you are in a parallel universe? Why? Why are these indispensible to you?
  5. Imagine the conversation you are having with your alternative self. Write down that conversation.
  6. Write down a letter to your alternative self living in the parallel universe.
  7. Write down a letter that your alternative self writes to you. This might be a response letter to the letter above.
  8. Now, imagine that your alternative self is a shadow and evil version of you. What would his or her life look like? How would you talk to him or her?
  9. Imagine that there are seven different parallel universes in total. So, you do you have six other versions of yourself living in other universes. Imagine that you are all coming together for a meeting. It is a convention of multiple selves scattered in different universes. Write a story about your intercosmic meeting: Seven selves. Each leading a different life. What will happen when they all meet together?
