Imagine You Encounter Aliens
You Will Create Science Fiction Stories
Scientists have discovered thousands of exoplanets, and many of them are potentially habitable. One could argue there are more planets than all the grains of sand on Earth.
Life could be distributed throughout the universe, however, we have no clue about alien life. Although we have been searching for extraterrestrial intelligence, we know very little about other intelligent life in the cosmos.
In this exercise, you will imagine that you encounter aliens. Please respond to the following prompts:
- Imagine that you encounter an alien on Earth. Where are you? How does the alien look like? How do you respond? Do you attempt to communicate with the alien? Write a thriller story.
- Imagine that you encounter a UFO on Earth. Where are you? How does the UFO look like? How do the aliens look like? Imagine what happens next. Do you go on their spaceship, for example? Who is their leader? How do you communicate? Do you take a selfie with them? Write down your story.
- What questions would you ask these aliens? Are you curious about their home planets and civilization? How do they live, eat, or procreate? Do they have family members? Are they the ones who built the pyramids? Create a list of 20 potential questions you would ask.
- Imagine that you asked them if they could take you to their home planet. They said yes. Write down the story of your visit to their planet. What do you witness or experience? What are the things that surprise you?
- Imagine that a hostile armada of aliens shows up near Saturn. There is chaos, panic, and hysteria on Earth. What happens next? Write down a horror story.
- Imagine that the aliens you encounter are way more clever and sophisticated than humans are. You feel very anxious. This is a potentially dangerous situation. What happens next? What do you do? Write down a thriller science fiction story.
- Imagine that the aliens you encounter are very clever and sophisticated. However, this time, you will imagine a positive scenario. Let’s imagine that the aliens have good intentions and some gifts for humanity. How do you communicate with them? What are their messages and gifts? Write down a science fiction story. You can get inspiration from the fascinating science fiction movie titled “Arrival” (below).
7. Imagine that you are on a liquid planet and you are doing research to discover potential life on this planet. You discover intelligent and sentient aliens that depend on the liquid to live. You discover a fascinating water-based civilization. Describe this water world, its inhabitants, and the civilization that you have encountered. What happens next? Write down your story.
