Imagine You Can Turn Yourself Into Water
Up to 65% of our bodies is water. If you could somehow increase that percentage, you could mimic water. Becoming water is one of the greatest ways to be elusive and flexible.
In this blog, imagine that you can turn yourself into liquid. You can melt yourself and look like water. This superpower is called “liquid transmutation” in comic books or super-hero films.
Please respond to the following questions:
- Imagine that you have this power. How would this power work? How would you use it? Describe your first experience of turning yourself into water. How do you feel? What happens next? How do you come back to your human body after you turn into water?
- What would you do if you had this power? For example, you could easily disguise yourself in many places, such as the pool, the beach, or the bathroom. Think of three instances where this power would be handy. Choose one of them and write a story where you use this power.
- Think of an instance where you can act as a spy or as a detective by becoming water. You will be undetected as you listen to conversations or witness a critical situation. Write a story with this theme. Will you act as a spy or a detective? What is the situation?
- Create a story where you flow in a river and then flow into the ocean. You become part of the ocean. Perhaps you even melt into the air and turn into the rain. What do you see? What do you experience? What adventures do you have?
- Rewrite the story above with a focus on climate change. What do you witness? Through acting like water, can you derive unique insights for dealing with climate change?
- Imagine that you can also condense yourself after you turn into water. That means you can look like a glass of water. Write a story on how you use this power. Do you eavesdrop on conversations?
- On one occasion where you turn yourself into a glass of water, someone drinks you. This is not good. You are in this person’s body now. What happens next? How do you get out? Create a story.
- On another occasion, you are on the floor in the kitchen. You get wiped out, and you are thrown into the toilet. You need to come back to the kitchen instantly — figure out the reason. What happens next? Write your story.
- Imagine that you are trapped on the surface of Mars in the form of ice. You are stuck there for a long time. How do you feel? What do you do? How do you deal with this situation? How do you get out of this situation? What happens next?
- Bruce Lee says: “You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water into a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water, my friend.” Write a poem or a rap song featuring water.
