CREATIVE ADVENTURES — 47
Imagine You Can Create And Write Without Fear
In this thought experiment, you will imagine that you can immediately start writing and creating whenever you wish.
As we know, it is a super-power to jump into a process of writing and creation without any thinking.
Most of the time, we tend to procrastinate. We hesitate a lot before jumping into action. What if I mess up? What if I fail? What if I cannot express myself? What if I produce crap? What if I get this wrong?
A hundred ‘what if’s are suddenly attacking your brain and you are already paralyzed.
Mel Robbins recommends that we act in five seconds without thinking. Jump into the unknown.
In every remarkable story, the hero takes a leap of faith. And that is what you need to do: Jump to the other side. Get out of your comfort zone. Start writing, creating, and taking risks.
Please respond to the following questions:
- If you had no fear, what are the things that you would like to try out? Please create a long list of 20 different experiments, projects, or wishes.
- Imagine that you have a superpower of extreme productivity and creativity every morning. However, this superpower only lasts 3 hours. After 3 hours, you lose that power for the rest of the day. What would you accomplish during these three hours? What would be your top priority? Why? How can you make this happen in real life?
- Imagine that you can take a pill that makes you super-creative, super-productive, and super-courageous. Write a story of what you will accomplish with the help of this magic pill.
- Write a thriller story about the unexpected consequences and risks of this magic pill. What happens next? How do you deal with this situation?
- How can you act with great courage, laser-sharp focus, and super creativity? Please think of at least 15 practical ideas you can implement in your daily life.
- When was the last time you were paralyzed by fear? How did you deal with it? What worked and what did not? What did you learn? How can you overcome fear and jump into action as a creative professional? Write yourself a letter providing wisdom and insights.
- Please listen to your fear now. You need to address your fears seriously, but this does not mean you will give the direction of your life to fear. You will now write a letter about all your fears. What are the things that you are afraid of? Write yourself a letter that addresses all these fears. Listen to your fears without judging them. Put them on paper.
- Now, you will write a second letter to address and resolve your fears. How can you handle them? How can you make sure that you take your fears into account, but not be ruled by them? How can you transcend your fears? How can you act with more courage? In your letter, you will create fresh ideas, solutions, and strategies.
- We often overestimate our fears and let them paralyze us. Write down a story where your worst fears about your creative and professional self are realized. What happens? Is this scenario really that bad? How do you deal with the situation? How do you solve it? Create your story.
