Thinking outside the box and escaping the rut

Imagine money is not an issue in your life — what would you do with your life?

A short reflective exercise unleashing the virtues of interests, curiosities, hobbies, and play

I will not take too much of your time in this blog and make it very concise:

Imagine that money is not an issue in your life. You have enough money in your bank account for yourself, your family, and your beloved ones.

Even if you do not work, you could live a life of full happiness and richness. In other words, you do not depend on a salary to get by.

In that case, what would you do with your life?

Please look at the exercise below and brainstorm.

Imagine possibilities and write them down.

Write whatever comes to you.

What are the things that you have put on your page?

How is your life when you have all the money you need?

How would you spend your life in this case then?

Would you still go to work for enjoyment or challenge? Would you be learning new things, such as a new language? Would you sail the world?

Which adventures would you undertake?

Which blue oceans would you navigate?

What would you do, really?

Please continue to your list and your scenarios/possibilities.

Did you realize that your ideal life has nothing to do with comfort?

Comfort will kill you inside.

Well, you will be bored if you sit idle, eat, and binge-watch Netflix all day. Where is the joy in all that?

You will also be bored with all the luxuries, yachts, private islands, helicopters, the Swiss Alps, and jet-set lifestyle.

You will need adventure, meaning, and new challenges in your life.

You will also want to pursue your own interests, curiosities, hobbies, and play. Please make a list of all these below:

Your interests, curiosities, hobbies, meaningful projects, challenges, and adventures

List them below:

Perhaps you would live in different parts of the world and travel around world cities? Seek out new experiences?

You will perhaps support all the causes you believe in, such as preventing starvation and poverty in the world, establishing good schools and hospitals all around the world, creating sustainable energy, curing diseases, creating employment for talented people, help everyone access high-quality education, and even supporting Elon Musk’s Mars mission. You will perhaps invest in space travel and go up to space yourself. You will perhaps invest in extending our lifespans. You will also want to leave a positive legacy that will go beyond your life.

You will probably still prefer work (think of all the fields you are really interested in) because of the challenges, learning, skills, and growth opportunities it provides.

You will want to have all the freedom and opportunities you want to have. But, you will also want to be responsible and contribute to the lives of people around you.

When you think about it, money is not a big deal if you already have it.

You will also realize that many of your fantasies are free and do not require any money: Good health, happy family, nature, beauty, exploration…

Reflect: How much money do you need?

Now, please think about how much money you would need to put aside to pursue this ideal life. Put that figure down.

You will soon realize that you do not need that much money to pursue your ideal life. Put the minimum viable money (figure) now.

How can you make this money? How can you create more options for yourself?

Conclusion

What did you learn from this exercise?

How can you design your life right now so that you can move towards your ideal life?

What are the action points you can take every day?

How can you build a system that will help you build this life?

Remember: You have access to all the power, determination, confidence, resilience, creativity, and smart strategies you need.

You can design your life one day at a time.

You are running a marathon, and you can be the champion of your life.

Sincerely;

Fahri
