IN GRATITUDE FOR SHOUTOUTS

Imagine

Imagine we’re in a circle, ringing Earth in a Saturnalia celebrating the harvest of our Light

unlit candle in our hands until Venus shouts out to Minerva and together (this is important) Love and Wisdom entreat Vulcan to break a bad habit

To use fire nevermore to vanquish but to erupt lava flows of blessings entombing us within a Pompeii of heartening kindness where there are atriums for all, phoenixes parked in every doorway

gridlocking traffic unlocking hope humankind will arise from its ashen catatonia

It is your candle he lights first Then you turn and light your neighbor’s

You can see where I am going with this — ring spiraling forevermore

into a festival of Light prompting the raven, embodiment of prophecy and insight, to caw in delight in invitation

Carly Simon saw clouds in her coffee. I heard shoutouts in mine, thanks to Winston’s prompt.

Shoutouts clear away Medium clouds — those horrid hovering thoughts when we wonder, is anyone out there?

Shoutouts aren’t ego feed, at least not for me. They’re reassurance. A pat on the back, a thumbs up — a spark reigniting embers of faith in myself, my muse, my destiny.

It’s Saturnalia — the ancient Roman celebration and festival of lights honoring Saturn, the god of harvest — as well as Christmas.

A happy Saturnalia shoutout to all of you.

A special shoutout to Trista Signe Ainsworth for lighting my candle here at Thank You Notes.

I’m shouting out gratitude to you, too, dearest readers. For keeping my candle aflame and adding yours to The Ring here at Medium.

OMG, an opera analogy I didn’t see coming. Well, we are on epic, heroic journeys, aren’t we?

Love.
