Happy Thanksgiving 2020

I’m Thankful That I Have Something I’m Passionate About

And I’m thankful for those who support me on my journey

I’m Thankful for the Pain and Suffering

Back in February 2020, I was lost. I was feeling the doom and gloom that was headed earth’s way before it even got here. I had no idea what was coming, but I knew something was on its way and I was petrified.

I was alone in my thoughts, my family was oceans away and I was going through the darkest and longest dark night of the soul. I didn’t know what would save me or how I could make a difference in the world. I was tired, I was sad, and I was angry as hell about life.

I was sitting in a cubicle feeling depressed and unfulfilled, deciding whether it was time to quit my unhappy job. But what would I do?

I always loved to write, and it was tugging at my soul, but I never gave it my all. There was just too much going on in my life to add one more thing to worry about. I didn’t know what to do, but I had a strong feeling that what I was doing then wasn’t it.

I’m thankful for the pain and suffering. I am thankful for the depression and the dark night of the soul. It came to show me how strong I really am.

I’m Thankful That I’m Passionate About Something

During the initial stages of the pandemic, I made the tough decision to quit my job to stay home and take care of myself and my baby girl. I decided to stay home and focus on my writing career.

I came across my mentor Sarah Turner’s “Write Your Way to Freedom” course, and I decided I was going to take the course. I immediately enrolled and starting learning about copywriting. I didn’t have a website or portfolio then, but I knew I could start getting clients if I had a portfolio together, and that’s when Sarah introduced me to Medium. She told me to publish a few pieces on here and use it as portfolio pieces.

My first thought was what? Why didn’t I know of this platform sooner? I had so much to share with the world! Without wasting much time, I got to work on my first article and I haven’t looked back since.

It’s hard to explain, but Medium saved me. Honestly, without Medium, I don’t think I would have made it. I was so down on myself. Medium reassured me of my purpose. It gave me something to look forward to every single day.

I found the platform when I was constantly asking for a sign. I was constantly asking for a breakthrough. I needed some light and fun in my life and Medium gave me that in so many little ways.

Finding Medium is one thing I am so thankful for this year because it gave me something to do that I actually love doing while I am stuck at home. I found something that I enjoy doing and get paid to do from the comfort of my own home, and it doesn’t get any better than this.

And for that, I’m thankful to Ev Williams for his hard work and dedication.

This platform saved me when I hit rock bottom. Once I hit rock bottom, there was nowhere left to go but up! I see it now. I see it in my progress; I see it in my growth and I see it in the changes in my life.

Writing saved my life. It brought light and meaning back into my life. It gave me hope and faith that things wouldn’t be the same and change was right on the horizon. It’s given me something to jump out of bed in excitement for. It’s given me a reason to keep living to share my stories.

Dedicating my time to fulfilling my life purpose has brought light into my darkness.

I’m Thankful for My Life

It was hard to find things to be thankful for this year, but I’ve learned that no matter what things look and feel like, there is always something to be grateful for. I’m thankful for the good and the bad.

I still have things to learn and understand, but life isn’t as dark as it used to be; it isn’t as heavy and dense as it felt before. Things are much clearer now and life is better even amidst a global pandemic.

I’m thankful for the pandemic. It came to show me to not take anything in this life for granted. It taught me to depart from people like it was the last time I would see them.

Many people didn’t make it through this year. I’m thankful that I live to tell my story.

I’m Thankful for My Friends Who Support Me

I found a community of writers and like-minded individuals that I can connect with and learn from, and for that; I’m more than thankful.

I’m thankful for my friends: Siobhan O'Connor Genius Turner Vishnu*s Virtues Tom Handy Nicole Salvatore Cielo Vida Shanna Loga Shannon Hugman Melissa Bee Gayle Kurtzer-Meyers EP McKnight, MEd Anthony Boyd Boateng Sekyere Emmanuel A. Anderson Marta Brzosko Chad Prevost Maria Milojković, MA Julia Horvath Jordan Gross Marianna Saver Nabil Alouani May Pang.

I’m thankful for all of your support and encouragement. I’m thankful for you reading this and the support you’ve given me. Thank you and have a happy thanksgiving no matter what that looks like for you today.

There is always something to be thankful for.
