I’m Still on the Truth Social Waitlist: My Place in Line Hasn’t Budged from #696,750
I don’t think this is how a waitlist is supposed to work

I was scrolling through the news when I came across this opinion piece by Sarah Rumpf, “Donald Trump’s Truth Social Is More of a Mess Than You’ve Heard — Even Melania’s Given Up Posting.”
The headline reminded me that I had tried to sign up for Trump’s Truth Social app back in February, and I was placed on a waitlist. I wrote about it the experience here.
In Sarah’s story, she reports,
“I attempted to create an account on March 14, using my Mediaite email address. I was given a waitlist number of #1,285,472 in the app and a slightly smaller waitlist number by email. I checked the app periodically over the past few weeks and that waitlist number never changed. I received no updates on how much longer I should expect to wait and no notifications when the account was finally able to be created; it just finally worked when I checked again Thursday evening.”
I was excited to see that Sarah was able to get the app to work! So I checked back on my app to no avail. I am still number 696,750 on the waitlist.
Somehow Sarah signed up weeks after I did and was way behind me on the list, but she’s now able to get on the app and use it. While I’m stuck at the same number I was from February 24.
Let’s do a quick recap on how waitlists work. You get a number. Others ahead of you begin moving up the waitlist. Your number should move up the waitlist as you get closer to the front of the line.
Yet instead, Sarah signed up several weeks after me, was given a number of 1,285,472, and has now jumped ahead of me while my number sits stagnant and unmoving.
I almost thought for a second that perhaps I was vetted by the Truth Social techs and I’ve been blacklisted before I can even get on. After all, I’m not the type of user that Truth Social was made for. But all evidence points to my reasonable conclusion that the people behind Truth Social are not organized enough to be screening applicants for conservatives only.
Here are some of the latest woes the app is experiencing:
- A verified Fox News account appeared on the app. But it’s not really Fox News as they’ve stated they are not on Truth Social. Yet it was a “verified” account.
- Trump himself posted one Truth to the site over a month ago, stating “Get Ready! Your favorite President will see you soon!” Since then, it’s been crickets with reportedly no sign of Trump.
- Traffic for the app is down 93% since the launch.
- Two key executives recently “resigned their senior posts.”
- Melania has quit using the app and Ivanka never even signed up. (Unless she’s still waiting for her turn as well.)
- A search on Twitter of “TruthSocial Waitlist” reveals I’m not the only one with an unbudging waitlist number.
Of course, it’s hard to be surprised a Trump venture would go as spectacularly bad as this. (Who remembers Trump steaks?) But I did think I would be able to get on the app and see the disaster firsthand. Maybe post a “truth” or two and see how quickly I would get banned.
I am extremely jealous of Sarah, who said she “was finally able to create an account, and what I found wandering around the app was even more hilariously bad than I had expected.”
If only I could see the “hilariously bad” happenings on Truth Social. Then I could write about it for you. But instead, here I sit at #696,750 on the list with no signs of going anywhere fast.
