I’m Staying in My Bubble
I see people wandering around without masks
My county is opening up soon.
A major city, right next to our county is still closed.
That city is a huge red spot on the C19 map.
My county is a state hot spot.
It makes me anxious.
I see so many people without masks these days.
Gathering around fires in their driveways.
Wandering around town.
Living life like normal.
Like a driver on cruise control.
Flying 80MPH down the highway.
In the dead of winter.
After a heavy snow.
That has been mostly cleared.
From the highway.
But there still remains.
Covered with a sheen of invisible ice.
Waiting for one false move.
To cause a pile up.
Injuring a bunch of people.
I am keeping my mask on.
I don’t want to get sick.
I don’t want to get other people sick.
Like my son’s grandparents.
Or, my ex wife.
Or, my son.
Especially my ex.
She works with the elderly.
Who are endangered by C19.
I love to think people are rational.
And, loving.
But, I’m not naive.
Some people don’t care.
Others are belligerently ignorant.
Some want to provoke.
Some like to joke.
Some want to be oppositional.
Some want to follow their leader.
Some people have magical thinking.
And don’t think scientifically.
I think some people deal with fear.
By denying the danger.
Some might want to get things over with.
Others might be bored.
Some might be numb.
I don’t think people want to hurt others.
At least not most of them.
I just wish we had someone we could trust.
Who was in charge nationwide.
It seems like a divorce case.
Where the two sides can’t agree to their detriment.
One will fight and fight.
Until the bitter end.
Until everything is gone.
All the money is spent.
It is happening here.
When one side ignores science.
And declares the emergency over.
And wants everyone to go out.
And breath in deeply.
And maybe most survive.
But, a few will be sacrificed.
To the golden gods.
Of the oligarchy.
And maximum profits.
Nobody gains.
I know we will come through this better.
We will see the faults with our society.
We will work to improve.
I pray we do.
Lots of love to everyone.
Love to all.
Love yourself.
And, love others.
