Be Part Of The 57%

Just slightly over half of the writers on Medium made money in July. You should be part of that too!

Another month has come and gone and another month of writing articles on Medium. Another month where I’ve been able to actually make real money from my writing.

Has it really been two months since I’ve been part of the Medium Partner Program?

Yes it has!

In my first month, I made $5 ($4.88 if you want exact details) from my writing and I was so excited and I wrote an entire article about it.

And now, after my second month of being a writer on this amazing platform, I’ve managed to make some money again.

I was targeting to make at least the same amount of $5 and possibly more. I’m glad to say, I made more!

How much more?

$26.56 to be exact! So that’s 5x more than I made during my first month. Now, am I excited? Hell yes! Of course I am.

Am I satisfied?

Yes.

Because it’s more than my minimum target of $5 and again, my main aim is to be a better writer because I know I still have a lot to learn and improve on.

It’s also encouraging because only 57% of Medium writers made money last month.

Medium actually publishes these statistics.

But, as much as I’m satisfied, I want to be part of that 7.9% who made more than $100 and I want you to be part of that too.

What motivates me the most is the last line where someone actually made over $20k for the whole month and another person (or it could be the same person as well) made over $6k from just one single article! Imagine the amount of claps that story received. To have made that much money, that article must have received tens of thousands of claps.

What does that mean?

It means the article resonated and touched tens of thousands of people who read it.

And that’s what we should all aim to do.

To write an article so powerful that it touches people who reads it and makes those who read it, share it with others.

I do it all the time.

Whenever I find a great article that I love, I share it with family and friends so that they can enjoy it too. That’s just a normal thing to do isn’t it?

And that should motivate us to strive to be better writers as well.

I said it before and I’ll say it again, making money on Medium is a bonus. The person that made $20k last month received a HUGE bonus. But that being said, if it is a viable way to make some extra cash, why not treat it with respect and try to make as much as you possibly can?

I enjoy writing for Medium as the communities of not just the writers but readers are amazing. So many amazing people on here, sharing their stories, their experiences and many others coming here to learn and enjoy the stories that are told.

I’m sure all you writers out there feel the same way as I do and I believe that as long as we continue to enjoy writing and continue to enjoy doing on this platform, we can all add to that statistic of 57% of writers who made money and I’m pretty sure the percentage of people of makes more than $100 a month will increase as well.

I’m happy to have made something and be part of the 57% and I would love it if more of you are part of it too.
