I’m on track to triple my blog page views this month

How am I doing it?

First of all, let me say that this is not a get rich quick scheme or follow these steps to success type of post.

I’m simply sharing my journey and experiences to provide helpful information for other aspiring bloggers.

A little background

This achievement is 15 months in the making. I started my blog in February 2021 and managed to write 100 posts by December 2021.

And there have been ebbs and flows of page views, posts, and overall earnings over this whole time.

Here’s a snapshot of my statistics and then I’ll explain my observations further:

As you can see, I hit 1,000 pageviews in a month 3 times — May 2021, January 2022, and May 2022.

I think May and June of 2021 were pretty good months because I had just started posting consistently and had 44 posts written at that point.

My Analysis of Views

Then, my posting got a lot more sporadic until the end of April 2022. In January 2022, most of the pageviews came from me, I think because I had to fix a ton of broken links.

At that point, I made the choice to change my permalinks to no longer include the date, which messed up all my old posts. I can write more about that if there are any questions.

In Jan, Feb, and March of 2022, I barely posted anything, which resulted in low views.

Gaining Momentum

In April 2022, I decided it was time to start truly treating my blog like a business and not just thinking it would turn into one on its own.

Through my reading and research this past year, there are a few things you can do to achieve success with blogging. So, I decided it was time to implement them.

  1. Be consistent — Put out more content and show up. Google likes to reward those who continue to write and add value to the information world.
  2. Search engine optimization (SEO) — This is the one I ignored for far too long. I implemented little tricks here and there I learned along the way, but I didn’t take it seriously soon enough. I finally decided to purchase some help and subscribed to RankMath SEO. I’m not done optimizing all my old posts, but now I’m showing in search results way more often than I was before.
  3. Utilizing other platforms — I created a Facebook page for my blogging and started using Tailwind to schedule Pinterest posts. And another huge driver this month (June 2022) is Medium. I just started this Medium account about two weeks ago and it’s already driving more traffic to my blog.

So, some takeaways for you if you want to get traffic to your blog so you can start making money:

  1. Take SEO seriously right away

2. Optimize all your posts and pages

3. Continue to make adjustments and analyze your stats

4. Leverage your social networking

5. Have fun!

Writing is enjoyable for me and I look forward to continuing to grow an engaged community where we share and learn together!
