I’m Leaving X (Twitter) and Calling On You as Individuals and Medium as an Organization to Do The Same

I don’t know why it has taken me so long

If you’ve not yet seen the story, Elon Musk has endorsed an anti-semitic post on X/Twitter tweeting the words “actual truth” in support of the hateful message.

The White House has condemned Musk’s “abhorrent promotion” of anti-semitism.

Apple, Disney and other major corporations have paused or pulled advertising on X as well.

I’m leaving X today.

It’s time we, individually and collectively — as Medium — follow suit and leave X behind.

X/Twitter has never been good for me or any Medium writer I’ve communicated with.

I’ve stubbornly punched the ‘Share on Twitter” button on my stories’ pages for a long time. To my knowledge, no good has ever come from it. No new Medium views. No new Medium member enrollments or reads. No engagement with my writing.

In short, X has been worthless.

And now, through the actions and words of X’s thought leader and owner, X is dangerous and hateful. This because of Musk’s support of anti-semitic views.

As a result, I’m leaving the platform.

I’m asking all who read this to consider doing the same.

I’m asking the same of Medium as an organization.

End Medium’s link with X and leave their anti-semitic leader behind as other companies have recently done.

Let’s send the message that anti-semitism will not be tolerated.
