Abstract

s Nubble Lighthouse in York, Maine. We typically head north after the sun rises, but now and then, we’re up early enough to catch the sunrise. I set up my tripod around 5:30 one morning to catch the blue hour, which typically lasts 15 or 20 minutes. I exposed the shot for 30 seconds, which allowed me to flatten the waves.

About 45 minutes later, with the sun now above the horizon, I captured this photo of Nubble, giving it an entirely different look.

Sunrise in York, Maine, at Nubble Lighthouse. © Bruce Coulter Photography

One of my favorite places is Cape Cod in the summer. Answering a Call To Action

I found a post by Louise Peacock while casually traipsing down Medium’s yellow brick road. In it, Louise wrote that Of Weeds And Wildflowers head honcho, Dennett needed a few smiles. It was such a simple request. I don’t know any of the members of this group, but I felt the urge to help out.

So Dennett, if you’re reading this, I’m pleased to meet you and hope you enjoy my photos.

My daughter and I travel throughout New England almost every weekend. It gives us a chance to hang out, and Briana can decompress after a long week at work.

I’m not averse to getting wet and choose not to. I’m not too fond of wet shoes. I can’t tell you how many times I marched through woods, rivers, and marshes during my career in the military. So fair warning — and you should be glad — no beach selfies are included.

One of our favorite places is Nubble Lighthouse in York, Maine.

One of my favorite places is Cape Cod in the summer. Thankfully, my sister and brother-in-law rent a home each August and will invite me occasionally. I usually turn them down — they rent it for their family — but when I get the Cape Cod itch, count me in.

I didn’t have to get up too early to catch a fiery sunrise at Light House Beach in Chatham. The beach is about a half mile from downtown and easy to reach by walking.
