Summary

The author expresses confusion and skepticism about Quora, questioning how writers can earn money on the platform and highlighting seemingly absurd questions asked by users.

Abstract

The author of the content is perplexed by the dynamics of Quora, a platform where individuals pose questions and others respond. While acknowledging the potential for entertainment value in the absurdity of some questions, such as inquiries about making a cat vegan or losing weight without exercise or dietary changes, the author is primarily interested in understanding how writers can monetize their presence on Quora. The article hints at Medium writers having a dedicated space on Quora but does not elaborate on what this entails. The author issues a challenge to active Quora users to demonstrate how they generate income from the platform.

Opinions

  • The author finds many questions on Quora to be trivial or nonsensical, as exemplified by questions about vegan cats and effortless weight loss.
  • There is a clear skepticism about the feasibility of making money on Quora, with the author requesting evidence or explanation from those who claim to do so.
  • The author seems to imply that Quora's value might be more in entertainment than in serious knowledge exchange or financial gain for writers.
  • The mention of Medium writers having their own space on Quora suggests a level of integration or partnership between the two platforms, though the nature of this relationship is unclear to the author.

I’m confounded by Quora.

For one thing, can someone please explain how writers can make money on this site? From what I can tell, and admittedly, I haven’t taken a deeper dive, this is a platform where people ask questions, most of them dumb AF, and other people attempt to provide answers.

If it’s entertainment you’re seeking, that I get because if you ever doubted how ignorant people can be, wait until you read a question like the following:

“How can I get my cat to go Vegan?”

I shit you not, my friends. Here’s another nugget.

“How do I lose weight without any exercise or diet?”

Uh…ya don’t.

I see there are Medium writers who “have their own space” on Quora. What does this mean?

Please, if you’re active on Quora, show me the money, guys. Show me how you make it.
