I’m a Slow Burner
a poem

Hi, I’m Lucy and I’m a Slow Burner.
It means I may create and juggle many projects, but I do not pressure myself to get them out with the speed of light.
Some things build over time with the deposit of ten minutes, twenty minutes per week and amount to a sizeable mountain by itself.
On the flip side, I may also be slow to support your work, slow but steady. I collect your published pieces like shiny pebbles into my collection and I may not be able to read them instantly because I can’t be On All The Time and my Eyes and Brain are becoming Bad At Reading,
but rest assured that one day in the future I will pick your shiny pebble out from my collection, 3 months from its publishing, pore over every detail, give it the time it truly deserves, savour and share on the delicious moments.
I may not be that instant gratification, that person who’s always the first to clap for your achievements, but I’ll be the one emerging 62 days afterwards, amplifying so that what you’ve created is not one and done.
Your creations deserve to live on.
