Illumination: Our Tribe

Doesn’t matter the adversity, one shouldn’t back away from fighting for his tribe. It’s not about the honor, it’s about the duty.

This is not a usual story/article. But these are not the usual times either.

Today, I woke up to the news that Medium has suspended/removed our beloved publication, Illumination, from this platform.

I came to know about this when I read Salam Khan’s piece. It felt like a shock. Alarming and heartbreaking, at the same time.

I started writing on Medium almost six weeks ago. As I was new to this platform, I was looking for a ‘chance’ to get heard/read.

So, I watched a couple of YouTube videos and read a couple of articles to somehow get the idea about how I could improve/enhance traffic etc.

I came to know that one of the best ways to do so was to publish your work in publications. So, just like most of you, I looked for publications, which could help me in this regard.

I submitted a piece to this publication, Epilogue and it got published. That afternoon, I was over the moon.

Later, I found out about another publication with the name, Illumination. Thus, I thought of submitting my work to this particular publication as well.

I submitted a piece and within a few seconds of submission, my article got published. It was published my Dr. Mehmet Yildiz, the founder of this particular publication.

But it didn’t stop there. Illumination didn’t only give me a platform to publish my work, it also made me a part of this community, where everyone just treated me like their own.

Everyone from the community, be it Kevin Buddaeus, Gurpreet Dhariwal, Rasheed Hooda, or any other member of this community, they all provided me with this inclusive environment and it felt like a tribe. A tribe of like-minded, motivating, loving and worthy people.

Illumination was out tribe. It still is.

I don’t why these people are trying to sabotage the work of Dr. Mehmet and I am not aware of their motive behind all this. But I am sure of the honesty and integrity of Dr. Mehmet and I can vouch for him.

Dr. Mehmet created this platform, in the form of Illumination, which was not like every other publication on Medium. It was/is different. And that’s why, it will not go down so easily.

We respect all the rules and regulations of Medium and we all love this platform because it has given us a voice. We can’t even think of violating any of the rules and going against the guidelines of this great platform. That’s why, it is our request to Medium to look into this matter and help us all understand the rules, which were violated by Dr. Mehmet and this publication.

All we want is to see our publication up and running soon.

Looking forward to seeing Dr Mehmet Yildiz and Illumination back on this platform.
