Illumination Leads the Way

Shine On

I wish to take two minutes to congratulate Illumination on turning two. In this scenario, I do not see it as a case of the terribles, but maturing like good Caribbean rum.

Two years ago, there were not very many publications that would even deign to look at writers like me, with stories like mine. We were too foreign, too out there, not mash-potatoes-green-beans-and-steak enough.

Illumination was all-inclusive, accepting the good, the better, and the best. There was never an occasion when this publication sent me a note, “sorry, this piece does not fit.” They always found a place for it.

They expanded to include poetry, and they have expanded even more to include stories of spirituality.

The editors are knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating.

Many publications have appeared and disappeared since you came into our Medium lives, but like the ever-faithful lover, or forever friend, you have remained through the thick, thin, and drama-filled days — fending off the naysaying vultures that were just waiting to crow at failure.

Well, they are squawking someplace else.
