ILLUMINATION Book Chapters Extravaganza 4
A selection of first chapters from five authors whose stories will capture your imagination.
Hello lovely ILLUMINATION readers. We’re doing a little cross-pollination of publications today. You may have missed some of these excellent stories, so here you’ll find the first chapters.
How about a little philosophy? Shashi Sastry started his questioning decades before he wrote his book. On the extreme opposite of Shashi’s view of philosophy, Charles Laramie’s first chapter is not for the faint-hearted. You’ll see what I mean when you read it.
Meanwhile, I’m counting down the days to my 55th birthday and receiving my private pension early. The ambivalence of thoughts on the matter has got me both reflecting and considering the future. All the while, not knowing what the future has in store for us all!
From philosophy to self-improvement. Toni Crowe’s first chapter draws you into her world. Not fictional. She actually lived it.
Then Julie Nyhus, also with a true story.
And we’ll finish with a fabulous storyteller, Nicole Maheraj. Her characters grew on me with great speed.
Shashi Sastry started asking his questions and recording them in his twenties, got round to writing his book in his fifties. He promises his original thoughts unsullied by others.
We ask ourselves many questions in life. We get some answers from our formal education, some from finding out ourselves through reading and listening. Yet other solutions come from conversations.
Charles Laramie hooked me with the first three paragraphs of chapter 1 of his book, The Therapist. First, we have the perspective of the man, then Ryan Johnson’s. I think. Please tell us in the comments, Charles.
When Johnson is contacted by an anonymous source that offers him the chance to balance the scales of justice, he can’t say no. But as he descends deeper into a shadow world of power and control, he realizes events have taken on a life of their own and the endgame is out of his control.
From philosophy to self-improvement.
Toni Crowe, wow! Consider me drawn in. This lady is quite the storyteller.
The simplest fact of life is that every person in the world makes mistakes.
Julie Nyhus MSN, FNP-BC shares her personal story. She takes on a mighty power (in billions of people’s eyes) and turns her back on it. A brave woman. Enlightened, I would say.
This is the first part of a 6-part series chronicling my journey away from religion. If it offends you, I’m sorry, but you really shouldn’t let other people’s experiences trouble you. This is my experience and isn’t intended to discredit your experiences or beliefs in any way. My journey is mine and your journey is yours. I respect them equally.
Let’s finish with a detective story from Nicole Maharaj. I already like the characters and hope to read more soon.
After three long days of searching, he’d finally found the lost heiress and returned her to her family. Another case closed. So why did he feel so incomplete? He stared at the case file and all he could see was a pair of almond eyes angrily looking up at him.
Thank you for joining me on this review of new chapters. See you soon.
