I’ll Never Know Love like This Again
Tagged by Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) for the prompt: Your First Love — How do you see it now that time has passed?
I’m glad we can’t choose
the families we’re born into
because that would mean
a life without
The Best Father I Could Ever Have
The first on my speed-dial
if I want a shoulder to cry on
or need comforting
or colored-chalk and gel-pens
The constant by my side
during my best times
my worst times
and my ice-cream craving times
The one who encouraged
freedom of thought
and self-expression
so I could form opinions he disapproves
The one who taught me that
whatever I do in life
I don’t have to be the best at it
as long as I’m happy, like this writing thing
The one who defines
“Unconditional Love”
and didn’t turn red
when I colored my hair purple (and pink, green)
The one who forgives
my mistakes
without question
like my formless first tattoo, or this poem (?)
What power
does time have
over the purest
form of love?

Do check out Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她)’s poem for the prompt:
Preeti writes personal stories about her wonderful life and extremely normal mental health. She believes she is funny, tags her articles with “Humor” and also dabbles in fiction. She finds it weird to refer to herself in the third person.
Dying to read her? Excellent! She will get some coffee-change if you sign up on Medium using her referral link. Or you could buy her some soul juice. She says “Thank you, XOXOXO!”
