Ignite Your Soul

When we find our passion, anything is possible.

One day I woke up different. I didn’t just want to exist anymore. I didn’t want to live my life for others. I didn’t want to live with someone else's expectations. I felt I needed something more. I wanted to be excited.

Is this what middle age is like? Is this it? I asked.

When we are young, we are full of dreams. Then life happens. We find ourselves giving so much to those around us that we forget what lights us up. We become adults with responsibilities. But age shouldn’t define how we think or who we want to be.

We can still be dreamers, seekers, creators, poets, or anything we want, regardless of time passed. We can still set out to accomplish our childhood dreams. We are able to change our lives and rediscover or recreate ourselves. We can find what inspires us and live our life’s purpose.

What lights up my soul? I asked myself.

It is being in nature, finding a shell on the beach, watching a sunset. I noticed that what lit up my soul was the ordinary things we take for granted, like seeing the seeds that I planted grow into a flower.

I also needed to be creative again. When I started taking photographs, I noticed so many miracles in nature that woke my soul up – watching the sky changing colors, being mindful, and waiting for the perfect color configuration so that I could get a perfect shot. That is what set my soul on fire. It made me feel alive. It allowed me to see how beautiful life is and taught me to be in the moment.

Then I decided to continue on my journey back to me. I started writing again. I told myself, no, you are not too old to give up hope of what you always wanted to accomplish.

When I was in nature, I explored my thoughts and spirituality, inspiring me to express myself through my writing. I started writing articles, poetry, and my book. It is what made my soul burn bright. It awakened me.

I became present and rediscovered my passions.

When we no longer dream, then we allow ourselves to become old. Society says that after a certain age, we aren’t vital, but we do not have to buy into that. If we continue to live life without passion and for others, we will have regrets.

Ask yourself what sets your soul on fire? What do you need to do so that you can live your best life without regrets? Decide what’s right for you. Be inspired, and burn it up with your desire!
