If You’re Feeling This, You’re Probably on the Right Track
Don’t let this feeling frustrate you
As I’ve grown up and learned a thing or two, something strange happened.
Some days, I feel like I know less than I did at the start.
It’s as if the more I learn, the less I know.
It’s a perception thing.
When you start learning anything, there can be an overconfidence as you wade into the information.
Then, there comes a certain point where you’ve spent enough time around the information that you realize there is so much that you don’t know.
It’s deeply humbling.
But this is a good sign. The oversimplification and overconfidence come from not giving a subject enough attention.
Even seemingly simple things can be much more complex than you’d realize.
Take food for example. We go to the grocery store and take it for granted.
But if you were to think closely about the supply chain and how challenging it would be to correctly estimate how many of each item a store should have on a daily basis, you’d quickly get overwhelmed.
It’s not an easy task.
If you’re feeling like you don’t know as much as you once thought you did, don’t worry.
You are (probably) on the right track.
