If You’re Broke, Stay Away from the Chocolate Aisle
Is your spending out of control?

One day, I was focusing on doing the elimination process on the chocolates on the racks of a market (I like to try new chocolates, shush) when a man amusingly said to me,
“If you still have more necessary things to buy, don’t ever go to the chocolate aisle”
He chuckled and left.
I think he saw me pondering in front of the chocolates for 10 minutes, lol.
But the advice rings true. Most of us will buy those chocolates lingering around the racks when we see it. Are you going to eat it? Who cares, maybe later. Or next month. Or next year, if you’re forgetful.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but temptations to buy things are everywhere. That personalized ad on your social media makes it worse.
The other month, my mom was supposed to buy only necessities, but she ended up spending twice or thrice the original amount.
It was rare for her to do so, and she said, “It’s because I feel like throwing money away.”
Then it hit me that everyone has that urge when they have money. But some are too good at resisting their temptations, and some, well- I’m pretty sure you know that one person who’s earning enough but is always broke.
And chocolates are one of the culprits that lure many people into spending their money unnecessarily.
Ignoring the temptation is quite an easy task. Like what the man said to me, “..don’t ever go to the chocolate aisle.”
Meaning, you know you’ll be tempted, so avoid it like avoiding those people you don’t like encountering in public. Look at your phone or watch instead.
When you want that gym clothes, even when you have a dozen good ones in your closet, do yourself a favor and close your opened Gymshark tab.
The more you see it, the more tempted you are. And if you’re broke, you’re only torturing yourself.
I know that not buying is another kind of torture, but that product you want so much will not magically poof out of the earth.
Save or earn more. Whichever it is, don’t spend more than you can.
Final thoughts
There’ll come a time when you don’t have to avert your eyes from the chocolate aisle and buy as many as you want.
Till then, stay away from when you don’t need one unless you’re fine with being broke.
I can’t tell you what you can or can’t do, now can I?
