If You Want to Have a Productive Day, Do These 4 Rituals the Night Before
Mondays are not boring — we just made it up because we love Sundays.

Do you still feel unproductive even after 15,000 self-help books are published annually in the United States?
Don’t worry: I feel the same, too.
Here’s why: we are all different creatures
Our genes and working style have made us different and unfit for many routines. Some generic tips can become hard to apply when it’s not your piece of cake.
We’re not machines. Thus, it’s time to find tips for achieving maximal productivity.
No, I won’t tell you to focus on your tasks or delegate your job because we all know these 1000-year-old tips. You and I need a solid plan based on our working style.
Below are four rituals you can apply the night before to have a more productive day.
1. Throw in some salt like Nusr-et
Working style: lazy → active
We all know how famous Nusret Gokçe, aka “Salt Bae,” is.
Salt Bae doesn’t make salt or meat — his pouring salt style makes him unique. Even after his football entry ban, “Salt Bae” is set to open his restaurant chain in Israel.
In other words, there’s no stopping him.
You can apply the same “Salt-bae” method to your routine. You wake up, eat, and sleep every day, but do something creative to add a little spice. Here are some suggestions:
- Eat: cook a new dish
- Sleep: sleep at a different angle, place, and time, and add music in the background
I get it — it’s hard to find unique tasks every day.
Adding something extra to our basic routine can enhance our health and well-being.
Do something different that makes you happy. Every single day, I make sure to try new recipes. And before sleeping, I do either of them: journaling or meditating.
If you’re too lazy, use the “Salt Bae” method to awaken your spirit.
2. Don’t resist the snooze: Wake up refreshed
Working style: careless/ late doer → vigilant
A snoozing alarm is easy, but it’s not a solution.
Vinay Vadav believes:
“Why waste much time sleeping when you can get up to learn and take many opportunities and a responsibility to become legendary?”
True. You cannot rest when you try sleeping with 5 minutes of back-to-back snoozing.
The tunes hit the back of your mind and cause migraines and headaches. If you plan to wake up at 8 a.m., you better wake up then and shut off the alarm clock.
In other words, you wake up refreshed but often drain your energy fighting with the alarm clock. To stop that, motivate yourself and give yourself a reason to get up.
Give yourself some creative inspiration to change your lazy late-work-doer lifestyle. For example:
- Make a traditional dish back from your hometown for breakfast
- Have a morning call with family
- Make pancakes
- Prepare a jogging suit and keep it on the sofa
Often people I’ve met keep their mobile phones in another room. Of course, you don’t want to risk not waking up.
Your best bet is to keep your refreshing spirit and not get in a fight with your alarm clock.
3. Organizing the workplace
Working style: cluttered mind → clear mind
When you start living alone, this happens:
No one tells you what to do, but you must do it.
You can go a year without washing your clothes or even meeting with friends.
You do it because you realize everything has time to do it. Organize and clean your workspace before sleeping so you get clean vibes upon waking up.
Drinking coffee from a clean mug and functional coffee machine hits differently.
Treat yourself as an emperor. Your home is your throne, and you have to keep it organized.
For that reason, do the following:
- Put everything in its place before sleeping, and take a proud picture
- Set a morning table with a cup, coffee grounds, and a kettle
- Look for the grocery checklist
Treat yourself to a hot shower — a reward for cleaning the house.
Don’t worry about vacuuming. Clean the house and make sure everything is in the right place.
4. Buy something
Working style: boring → excited
Imagine:
“You are getting a shipment of your favorite Shein dresses on Monday.”
Result: this boosts your mood. I get it. Monday is not boring — we just made it up because we love Sundays. That doesn’t mean buying everything on Mondays — honestly, no one can afford that.
The idea is simple: spend it on something that suits you.
For inexpensive ideas, you can do the following:
- Coffee chats
- Donate 5 dollars
- Invest
- Buy on Mondays
I usually buy stuff from Shein or Aliexpress, which takes up to 90 days to arrive. I am almost waiting for my shipment with my eyes peeled during that time.
Nothing is too small or too big.
Instead of buying or ordering things on weekends, let’s place the orders on Mondays.
This brightens up my mood. Instead of going on weekends, do grocery shopping on Mondays.
Final thoughts:
As always, follow “Brian Tracy’s” eat-the-frog method: do the essential thing in the morning.
This helps you focus your joy after breakfast energy on the right thing. Productivity is like a puzzle. Fit the right pieces in the correct order to get benefits.
If you’re not earning benefits, maybe you don’t use the productivity hacks mentioned above.
