If you want to get more done this might be a way
My day has two beginnings.
Sunrise is the traditional beginning of the day. It’s when we start. As the day brightens our activities begin. Doesn’t matter whether you’re going to work. Doing housework. Working in the yard. Going fishing. Exercising at the gym.
As the sun goes down this usually signals the end of the day. It’s when we can relax and rest to get ready for the next day.
Dusk does not have to be the end of the day. It is not for everybody. Some people work and do things overnight. This is the start of their day. They rest and sleep during the day. It’s their way of life.
I used to start at midnight for work which is in the middle of both. I look at it as the best of both worlds.
The first part of my day usually starts before sunrise. It’s my waking blank. As the sun comes up I look at it as the start of the first part of my day.
As I begin the rest of my day I do whatever is my normal activity. Doesn’t matter going to work or going to play I do it with the motivation that I will get things accomplished. If I happen to get tired and need rest…I get a nap.
Meals happen at regular intervals.
At the end of this beginning part of the day, I usually rest and for a while. Before dusk, I wind down from the first part.
As darkness overtakes this signals the beginning of the second part of my day. It could be teaching writing exercising. I could be working on one of my hobbies. I could be getting ready and going to a second job.
As with the first part of my day, it begins with actively doing everything that was planned. When I get tired it’s time to sleep. Sometimes it’s a little longer than the first nap but it refreshes relaxes and rebuilds energy. It might not be the same as everybody’s 8 hours of sleep but it works for me.
I usually wake before Dawn and decide what I want to do for the next part of my day. It is not only the end of the day but it is the beginning of the new day.
The transition between these two beginnings of the same day is a time of reflection and planning for the next part.
I sometimes say I get more done before other people get up then they do all day. When doing it this way I end up getting twice as much done.
I started this practice when my work schedule as a farmer required this. It worked well because I got things done before everybody got up and was still able to help to raise my kids and grandkids.
If you ever wonder how you’re going to get everything you want to get done finished this might be a way to try. When looking at your day as having two beginnings you will have more time to get things done
