If You Realize How Powerful Your Thoughts Are, You Will Never Think Negatively

Yes, there’s scientific proof that your thoughts can change reality

If you’re a science fiction movie fan like me, you’ll be no stranger to aliens from other worlds who:

  • can move objects around without touching
  • change forms like a chameleon or
  • imprison their enemies into invisible chains of light energy

How cool and fascinating it is to watch and imagine!

If you think such amazing things happen only in comic books or movies, you’re wrong.

Matthew Manning, a spiritual healer, once turned on an electric light, moved his home furniture around, etc., using his power of the mind.

Though this is trivial, what’s this power he’s tapping into?

The question is, can we also harness this hidden power of the mind?

The answer is yes!

Research says,

“If you concentrate and hold onto one thought for a long time, you can see miraculous results.”

The irony is most of us are using it all the time but don’t realize it.

The reason is that it’s less intense and takes a little longer to manifest (due to a lesser focus).

But, even as you read, your thoughts are influencing your actions and what next will happen in your life.

Let me share what I’ve learned from my experiences and reading spiritual books.

Effect of Mind Over Matter

Let’s conduct a simple experiment.

Ask anyone around you to stand and raise their strongest (dominant) arm horizontally. Silently say under their breath, “I am a weak and unworthy person” ten-fifteen times.

Now, try to push the arm down whilst they try to resist your force.

Next, ask them to follow the same procedure but this time with the weakest arm and ask them to repeat, “I am a powerful and worthy person.”

Push their arm down.

What did you observe?

The arm collapses weakly after the negative affirmation, while it’s rock-solid after the positive statement.

This is the simplest experiment that proves that thoughts send invisible energy to our nervous system, to our muscles, and so they can’t help but act accordingly.

Studies have proved that thoughts alone can improve physical illnesses.

Lynne McTaggart mentioned in her book, “The Intention Experiment: Using Your Thoughts to Change Your Life and the World:

A sizable body of research exploring the nature of consciousness, carried on for more than thirty years in prestigious scientific institutions around the world, shows that thoughts are capable of affecting everything from the simplest machines to the most complex living beings.

This evidence suggests that human thoughts and intentions are actual physical “something” with astonishing power to change our world. Every thought we have is tangible energy with the power to transform.

A thought is not only a thing. A thought is a thing that influences other things.

A Mind Is Just a Tool to Harness Unlimited Powers of the Universe

There’s no getting away from the fact that thoughts have energy.

But not knowing its kind and source makes us question its existence and purpose.

To get a clear answer, let’s delve for a moment into the world of metaphysics.

Every culture and religion in the world believes that a great universal source of wisdom influences the course of events on this planet. God, Allah, the Great Spirit, Jehovah, etc. — whatever you call it or believe it to be, doesn’t matter as long as it works for you. All religions believe in one purpose of life — to use universal intelligence to channel God’s energy and bring out the potential within us.

So, the mind is just a tool that harnesses this indefinite power in the universe.

For that reason, negative energies are considered detrimental. They disrupt the universal forces preventing happiness, peace, and success. They also restrict our true potential by trapping us into the mental prison of our own making.

Earl Nightingale revealed this secret of life in six words, three decades ago:

— “You become what you think about.”

It wasn’t an original idea as many similar thoughts prevailed before that, like:

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” ~ Proverbs 23.7

“A man’s life is what his thoughts make of it.” ~ Marcus Aurelius

“We are what we think, all that we are arises with our thoughts, with our thoughts we make the world.”~ Buddha

So, you’re constantly creating your circumstances by the way you think.

It’s like you have a missile in your unconscious that relentlessly directs you toward the target, good or bad, depending on what your thoughts dwell on.

Why Do the Thoughts Manifest

The Universal Law of Cause and Effect.

This law states that nothing happens as an accident or without a reason/cause. Every cause has a consequence, and every consequence gives rise to another cause. It’s true because we think of the (bad) circumstance and start feeling negative, which gives rise to other unfavorable outcomes (fear, failure, relationship disturbances, etc.).

Emerson once said:

“The ancestor of every action is the thought.”

Think of it as gravity.

It makes no difference if you believe in gravity or not. It will pull you downwards regardless of your opinion.

Similarly, your thoughts also shape your destiny, even if you’re oblivious to the fact.

Let’s take another example.

Can you think of any single human achievement that didn’t originate as a thought?

It’s, perhaps, impossible.

Alexander Graham Bell’s desire to improve communication over long distances spurred the invention of the telephone — Origin?

Thought!

The Wright brothers getting fascinated by the idea of human flight, leading them to design, build, and fly the first powered airplane — Origin?

Thought!

Alexander Fleming’s observation of mold inhibiting bacterial growth leading to the discovery of penicillin — Origin?

Thought!

Thomas Edison’s aspiration to create a reliable, long-lasting source of light giving birth to bulb — Origin?

Thought!

Every invention or even the greatest artwork — all began with a single thought in someone’s mind.

There’s an ancient Chinese philosophy that explains the importance of thoughts:

“Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.”

So, thought is the source of destiny. Thought is the source; destiny is the result.

Whether we like it or not, past thinking has brought us where we’re now, and every thought from this moment will shape our future.

This leads to an inescapable conclusion:

“To take control of your life, take control of your thoughts. If you don’t control them, they control you and your future.”

This fact might also make us think how different our lives would be if thoughts didn’t manifest.

Okay, think of the scenario when your thoughts don’t manifest.

A fly sits on your face. You think of scratching your face, but your hands don’t obey.

You see a bear charging towards you. But your feet don’t listen to your thoughts of escaping.

Now that we don’t have a choice in getting rid of thoughts, we might want to learn how to think right to harness the hidden powers of the mind.

Unlocking the Hidden Potential of the Mind

In English or any language, we learn the alphabet first to gain full command over that language.

Likewise, to unlock the hidden powers of the mind, we need to gain control over it.

We need to learn the technique of thinking only those thoughts that are beneficial for a desirable destiny.

If we think we can never tame the monkey mind, we’re cheating ourselves.

We’re limiting our growth.

If a man can move objects around, switch on the electric light without touching and hear sounds from a distance, then it’s not impossible.

Even if we don’t need powers to do this trivial stuff, we might still want these psychic powers to expedite the manifestation.

Marcial Grad once wrote:

“As long as you keep thinking as you’ve been thinking, you’ll keep feeling as you’ve been feeling, doing as you’ve been doing, and getting what you’ve been getting.”

So, to change the quality of life, we need to change the quality of our thoughts.

Here’s how:

#1. Observe and note

Observing is the first step. Keep a journal and note the kind of thoughts that arise in your mind. It can be anything like past relationships, present troubles, future dreams, fears, etc.

Now separate them according to their relevance for the future on a scale of 1–10(one is the least and ten being the most).

For example, if you have thoughts about pain or suffering, they must be less than three or four.

A higher number represents the thoughts you would like to manifest, like money, job, success, happiness, peace, relationships, etc.

This way, you isolate destructive thoughts from constructive ones. Also, it will give you a clear idea of what thoughts you need to focus on.

#2. Stop the conscious thoughts

We all have experienced that when we don’t create thoughts like affirmations, the only thoughts our mind has are negative and trivial ones.

We need to get rid of this pattern.

We need to create a new groove in the mind that creates positive thoughts without our intervention.

How?

As soon as you become aware of a negative thought (through step#1), say, “Stop! Go away! Cancel!” and do something physical like clapping or pinching yourself.

You can also do it with the mind’s eye — imagine closing the book of negative thoughts, burning a paper of negativity, etc.

It’s a symbolic gesture that it’s the end of destructive thoughts.

This is how your subconscious starts focusing on positive thoughts.

Again, it takes time and practice.

It also depends upon your imagination capabilities and the frequency of this practice.

I have come to a point where I am aware of when my mind is trying to go rogue and when I need to do something about it.

Your aim must not be to create positive thoughts (initially) but to prevent negative thoughts because they unconsciously create a destiny you don’t want.

#3. Feed Proper Fodder

Once you have been able to identify when, why and how many negative thoughts your mind creates in a day, you know how many doses of replacement (positivity) you need.

Mind is like a small child.

If you take away one toy, you have to give another. It can’t sit idle.

If you don’t give your mind something beneficial, it will extract anything from the subconscious mind like childhood memories, thoughts about others, etc.

If you can’t come up with any instant replacement, engage your mind in any activity except phones or electronic media.

It makes things worse.

The scenes, the visuals, the music, etc., trigger the mind to correlate it with your life and think something against your wish.

I usually read spiritual books that provoke thinking. This way, my mind is alert and in my control.

#4. Stay Vigilant

You can’t ignore the people around you.

There will always be someone who takes pride in pouring cold water to smack off enthusiasm, optimism, and positivity.

If you don’t have anyone, they’re news. They always exaggeratedly portray incidents that create unnecessary toxic thoughts of anger, frustration, and fear.

I have learned one thing — good news: don’t sell. If it’s making the headlines, it’s not good for me.

You can’t change anyone, but you can be wise enough to limit contacts with the doom and gloom merchants until you have reprogrammed your mind with new software of wishful thinking.

Your mind is more powerful than you think it is.

It’s not a monkey mind or a devil.

It’s your most prized possession that can help you get anything in the world.

Henry George aptly says,

“Unless there be correct thought, there cannot be correct action and when there’s correct thought, right action will follow.
