If You Love Me Then Set Me Free
Loosening the ties that bind- A poem
It’s a pity you try to guilt-trip me accusing me of being happy and carefree. One day in the sun with some rum — a break from the 365 that I give to you. Unceasingly without complaints or restraints.
How dare I be happy and leave you home hungry while I am off frolicking in the waves Digging my toes in the sand Gazing out at the horizon that Never seems to touch land.
Far away from my problems Just for today I romp and I play.
Remembering the times When you were not The be-all and end-all of me Times when I could use my imagination And soar Stress-free From the worries of that bound me.
So dear one My heart of hearts And the light of my life I sit not in that energy Of your impunity The belief That you own me.
And now that I know Now that I have recollected recalled and reflected on the times when it was easy being me. I will leave you at home During the many times that I roam And explore And remember The beauty of being allowed to soar Shackle- free Enjoying the me I came here to be.
