If you live in the Rockies, get ready for a Snow-Apocalypse!

Sounds like Thursday is a good day to stay home…

ĹATEST UPDATE: National Weather Service now calling for 10–24" of heavy, wet snow, with winds in excess of 35 MPH.

I’m monitoring the weather out west this morning, and if you are living in the Rockies, tonight thru Friday will be a real mess. Best be prepared, here’s how…

1). Stay Home. If you do not absolutely, positively have to be somewhere, do not go. It’s not worth your life to drive in that kind of mess for some bullshit “x” dollar a hour job.

2). De-icing fluid. Having some de-icing fluid for your windshield is great, this will melt ice quickly and safely. You do not want to drive when you can’t see shit, that’s just stupid and dangerous.

3). Kitty Litter. Buy a bag, keep in your vehicle. If you get stuck or in a ditch, pour litter under tires for some traction to climb out. Works like a champ!

4). Water, some snacks, and blankets. Everyone knows the importance of having some basic supplies on hand. In today’s world, it’s doubtful that you will be stranded for more than a few hours. Have some snacks and water handy, they will make your misery a little more bearable.

5). Medicine. If you are someone who has to take life saving medicine at a certain time of day, carry that medicine with you. You do not want to be dealing with a car in a ditch and 2 feet of snow, and then suddenly start having issues because you did not have your medicine with you to take. Heart, blood pressure, and diabetic medicines should be a priority.

And last but not least…

If you made it this far, thank you. My family and I appreciate it greatly. So for that, I will leave one last tip that you won’t hear elsewhere…

If you are in your vehicle and trapped, and the temperature is extremely and deathly cold, as a last resort, you can cut out the headliner of your car. There is a heat shield blanket inside it that reflects heat back up skyward. Take this blanket and wrap around yourself and others who are huddled together. This will reflect your body heat back to you, and you will stay toasty warm until help arrives.

Just make sure you carry a knife, scissors, or razor in your vehicle for cutting the material out.

I hope this helps out someone who is dealing with winter weather and all the shit that goes with it. Be prepared, always have what you wish you would want in a dire situation.
