Letting the small things affect us in a large scale, having the capacity to ruin our whole day. It feels like it’s time to take a holiday.
Long days at work & crappy sleeps makes us become jaded at times.
‘First world problems’ you hear people say.
However, if you are frequently irritable or dissatisfied with your monotonous, mundane existence, I recommend opening your mind to watching travel YouTube channels (such as Indigo Traveller, Drew Binsky) where they explore numerous third-world Countries.
Once I realised how badly poverty affects so many people in this world, and how little some people have, I started becoming pretty grateful for my boring life.
Maybe I was over-exaggerating when I said I hated my life after my
take-away coffee had the wrong milk.
Actually, my life is pretty darn good.
My bills are paid, I have food in my fridge. I still have a little bit of money left over. With that logic I am incredibly wealthy.
According to Worldbank.org, about 700 million people around the world live in poverty. Just over half of these people live in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Other statistics similarly show that as of 2022, 23% of the global population (1.8 billion people) were living on less than the minimum poverty line.
So many people born into a set of unfortunate circumstances that they had absolutely no say in. Many of them would do anything to swap lives with you and I.
So this Christmas & New year season, be sure to practice gratitude.
If you have a roof over your head, electricity, wifi, and access to clean water, you are already doing better than at least 20% of the world.
Do not fall into the consumerism trap that the media pushes, making you feel like you don’t earn enough because you can’t afford to buy a designer bag every month.
The influencers that promote those products get the items for free.
This is not a post to make anyone feel bad for being depressed or sad; just my thoughts and perspectives.
Appreciate the little things in your life. As they are considered as big things to others who have nothing.
