If You Don’t Program Your Life, Someone Else Will

In a world filled with excess, knowing what to choose to include in your life is key. Every day theres thousands of decisions we have to choose from and we need to make the right choices. With thousands of choices in food, entertainment, work, distractions, it can seem overwhelming and like we may not know what is right. We live in Aldous Huxelys Brave New World already. Everyone has something to numb them if they want. Make the right choices based on long term goals, not short term satisfaction.
The first thing you have to learn is you have control over your life. At the end of the day the only person you can rely on is yourself. You control your brain, don’t let it control you. You have to know that life is as good as you want to make it. If you set out to make the best for yourself, your going to have to weave around obstacles the modern world has put in your path. You cannot just be taken where the current takes you, if you want to be successful.
Control Your Mind
You have to get rid of as much negative stimuli as you possibly can. That means turning the TV off. It’s called Tell-Lie-Vision PROGRAMMING, for a reason. TV is dying anyway and your not missing anything of value. The things they put on TV are low value entertainment teaching low values and trying to bring you down to a lower state of awareness. The news is heavily biased towards negativity, and when has anything really greatly effected you positively by worrying about it? So you’ve got to disengage with the modern world on TV. Likewise you’ve got to minimize your social media intake as much as possible. That’s coming from as Social Media Manager. I only get on for work and I never post on my personal accounts. It is too easy to get sucked into the highlight reel that is Instagram, without seeing all sides of life. It is made to suck you in so you spend as much time as possible, soaking in as much dopamine as possible. Twitter brings toxicity that is nearly unavoidable, you can follow “money twitter” or positive people but you will still see negativity seep through somehow through world events. It is best to stay off socials for the most part and just take the few good parts and use them as they were intended, as a tool, not to endlessly scroll for hours. Getting rid of negative stimuli is the first step to programming yourself rather than being programmed.
Control Your Body
Now that we’ve redirected your mind, we must take care of your body. You must learn to eat healthy and avoid fast food. Most of society wants to get you hooked on a “cheap” meal needing you to crave more. That is why it is pushed on us. This makes you fatter, more tired, and lazy. Food is the fuel for our bodies. You want to have maximum energy and feel good rather than lethargic. Do everything you can to avoid these places and cook for yourself. Another program you need to download into your DNA is the act of exercising. We’ve been more or less left abandoned in this area of life. The doctor says to exercise of course but really no one is telling you how, why, and the extreme benefits it creates in the rest of your life. You’ve got to learn to do it instead of going home and just vegging out. It gives you mental discipline to keep going and achieving a long term goal. You won’t end up in the hospital with so many of these chronic diseases that we’ve been programmed to think are normal.
Control your relationship with work
We all have to work, but we have the choice in what it is. Society has programmed a Kindergarten through College pipeline without instilling the correct knowledge to make us successful people. Think about all the math that won’t be used unless your an engineer that we learn. Yet, think about how we don’t learn personal finance. We may learn about compound interest in an abstract way, but we are not taught the application for investing into our retirement. We spend all these years learning things that really aren’t necessary. Frankly we need basic math, reading, writing and an understanding of history, but some of these things are drawn out over years and amount to little application in the real world. Then it is assumed you will go to college to learn more of the same.
In reality, we need to learn how to make a living. No one is taught about starting a business. That’s supposed to be the American dream I thought? Even if you have an MBA that amounts to practically nothing today. You may have all the theories taught to you all day long but until you go out and start a business, you have no idea what it is about. There is no “skill” or “theory” that is business. Nothing can certify you for the real world, especially when Sh*t hits the fan. Like Mike Tyson said “Everybody has a plan til they get hit in the mouth.” There is no perfect route in business, if someone told you that they are lying. You have to learn how to handle pressure and stay on path to succeed. Consider that most of these business professors have never started a business in there life, but they are telling you how to start one? They live in theory without ever having lifted a finger to start any inertia of any business in their life. Their opinion is in reality, worthless. You can only learn wisdom from someone who has DONE IT before. You must learn from those who have done it before you, learning is a lifelong experience.
Even if you just want a regular job, you don’t want the pressures of having a business, we are programmed to work as robots. There is no innovation no learning your VALUE as a human being. No one teaches you how to ask for a raise. They don’t teach you about work ethic, going above and beyond to get your promotion. Society generally default setting is, do as little as possible and be a wage slave. Let your personality shine through, give of yourself more and you shall receive.
Along those lines. Don’t be a pessimist. People generally want to complain and bring you down to their level. Misery loves company. We’ve all worked at a place where its just the “cool” thing to do to complain about how much you hate it there. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a pretty god-awful way to live. Stand out and be the positive one. Everyone loves that positive individual who brings good energy where-ever they go. Tell yourself your not going to be sunk down to “their” level. You're going to maintain your level of positivity.
Don’t get lost in the sauce
Have fun but don’t overindulge in drugs and alcohol. In Brave New World, everyone takes “SOMA” to numb their feelings. A drug that everyone has to medicate themselves from feeling what they need to feel. Likewise, in our world we have ready access to all kinds of drugs. Alcohol is the most prominent as it is pushed on us from an early age. It is the social lubricant of society. Don’t get me wrong, I love going out for drinks with friends, or at a networking event, etc, but for some people things that they like can sometimes form habits that are hard to break. No one sets out to become an alcoholic, it happens over time. One day they’ve just crossed the line and its turned into a NEED for them. It can be a slippery slope, maybe they’ve started having a drink alone after work to ease down after the day. Then before they know it they NEED the drink to chill out, and after that it’s what they look forward to most is getting that first drink in them after work. We’ve all seen it. Likewise it can happen with other drugs from caffeine to weed. Again don’t get me wrong, these things aren’t bad, but everything in moderation. The point is, you don’t want to be a slave to any substance. Once you are, it can be hard to stop. You don’t want to run from life’s hardships, just have a good time and leave it at that. You’ll know at some point your starting to go down the slippery slope. Stop yourself before it becomes a problem.
Don’t Get complacent
This is short and simple. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The comfort zone is where dreams go to die. You always need something more to strive for. Something to keep you going. Your mind always needs a goal to work towards or it will fall back into negative thinking patterns, easily swayed by others. You need a reason to get up in the morning. Set goals for your life. Sub-goals to reach the ultimate goal.
In Conclusion
Society is drafted in a way to make you dumbed down and lazy, “they” want you at your lowest level of conciousness. People are easier to control that way. CHOOSE the way YOU want to live. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. We can choose to delay gratification, or to have it instantly. Whatever you want, you have to seek it out. Program yourself to work out and eat healthy, don’t let the media tell you to stop by McDonald's on the way home so you can go watch Netflix. I want the best for all of you, I don’t want you to be programmed by those who don’t have your best interests at heart. You're gonna need to bob and weave to avoid all the things that will be thrown at you, but if you seek out the things you want you’ll almost certainly attain them. Don’t let them program you into mediocrity, program yourself to believe you can achieve anything.
