If you Could go Back in Time

(What Would You Tell Your 21 Year Old Self..)

Lately, I’ve been listening to a podcast narrated by Julia Louis Dreyfus. You may know her from the series “Seinfeld.” Julia has a podcast called “Wiser than Me.” She interviews some amazingly strong, resilient women such as Jane Fonda and Amy Tan, to name a few.

If you haven’t listened to it, I highly recommend this humorous, entertaining and thought-provoking series. The podcast closes as Julia calls her Mom to discuss the interview. It is a hoot!

I usually listen to the episodes while walking and enjoying our new neighborhood. It’s a great way to get ideas on plants and landscaping! As I was walking and listening, I started thinking about this question.

At the end of each episode, she always asks the following question…

“If you could go back in time, what would you tell your 21-year-old self?

I started thinking about the above question and here are some of the thoughts and answers I came up with:

Let go of the small stuff. It’s all small stuff.

Wear sunscreen! Don’t worship the sun!

Give yourself time to enjoy your moments!

Many of us don’t know what we want to be when we grow up..give yourself time to “invent yourself.”

Don’t rush into marriage and having a family. Travel and explore the world before settling down.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Embrace yourself just as you are. You are worth it!

Listen more, talk less.

Listen to your inner voice, not what society tells you to do!

Don’t worry so much about what others think!

Don’t compare/judge yourself to others.

Self-Care is extremely important. Don’t forget to breathe..

You have no one to please but yourself and you won’t please everyone!

Set your boundaries!

Life has its ups and downs but generally, everything has a way of working out..believe in yourself

In conclusion:

Everything you have worried about and stressed over in your early days has led you to where you are now. Life is a journey to be explored and enjoyed!

So…who is willing to ponder the above question as a prompt? I will tag a few here in anticipation of what their answers will provide..

Thank you for reading and playing along!
