If you can’t write a short article, Are You Doomed?

What are you writing for?
Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.
You’ve been on Medium writing for a little while, you can’t help but check your numbers. You want to know if your writing getting any traction.
No, you’re not calling yourself a writer yet still trying. But you’ve been fortunate enough to get some readers and views on your articles. I know you shouldn’t do this, but it’s hard not to compare yourself to other writers.
You can’t help but notice how many followers they have and how many views and read they get. Why?
What do they have going that you don’t?
You study them. You sign up for some advice.
Many times this is what they tell you. To get your work seen and read, you should produce frequent posts. They need to be short, clear, and concise.
I just don’t get it. What if you don’t want to write short articles. What then?
Are you and your writing doomed to obscurity?
I’m here to improve my writing. To accomplish this goal, I’ve been getting training from different sources. So many different approaches will make you crazy.
My interest in learning to write was to share some of my life experiences with like-minded readers. Is it wrong to write about topics that can’t be written thoughtfully by a short article?
Writing something that has meaning and can move you can’t be summed up in a few words. Something that touched someone takes time to write.
Many times to give context to the writing, to explore detail to fulfill the reader’s expectations.
So much for what everyone tells you.
In the end, it’s what matters to you
What type of writing, do you want to do?
I tend to listen to the writers I admire. Writers who say something with meaning, honesty, and reality. Without thought for the number of words or claps.
Writing that can touch you. Writing that makes you think. Gets you to feel something.
Before you speak ask yourself if what you are going to say is true, is kind, is necessary, is helpful. If the answer is no, maybe what you are about to say should be left unsaid.
That’s how I hope to write someday. How about you?
