If You Are a Writer, This Is (Probably) the Most Important Article You Will Read Today

Only the truth. — Zero clickbait.

I’ll be honest with you,

I wasn’t going to write this article. But I want to help.

  • In this article, you will learn how to earn thousands of dollars.
  • In this article, you will learn how to relativize success and failure.
  • In this article, you will learn how to develop a quality product.

But first, why should you listen to me?

Today April 9, 2022, I am the number five writer on Life lessons, number five in Self-improvement, number six in life, number three in Spirituality, and number two in Philosophy. (Probably the most read topics on the entire platform.)

I am not saying this to brag but to show authority and that you understand that I am speaking from experience. And that I want to help you.

Now, let’s start.

How to make thousands of dollars writing an article a day

If you are good enough, 1 out of ten articles will go viral (pieces that make 300 dollars or more).

So if you write 300 articles a year, you will have 30 virals when the math converges.

(And it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t converge in months, it doesn’t have to be a distribution of 1 viral article out of 10, you can write 30 pieces, and they don’t go viral, and then ten virals; one after the other.)

In other words, 30 articles will earn you more than 300 dollars.

That’s an extra 9000 dollars a year. (Not bad money.)

What do you have to do?

Write 300 articles and try to improve by 1% every day.

Your failures bring you happiness.

If you calculate the time it takes to succeed compared to the total of a career, you will realize that what matters is not the trophy but the journey.

The beauty of it is that 30 viral articles will give you enough money to keep writing. But the remaining 270 will make you happy.

Think about it,

It takes me about 4 hours to make an article.

So 4 x 30 viral articles = 120 hours of writing.

Against 4 x 270 non-viral articles = 1080 hours of writing.

The trick is to realize that you have to be happy doing what you do, or you won’t make it in the long run.

In other words, either you are happy writing the 1080 hours in which you don’t get any articles to go viral, or you will never get to write 30 viral articles.

So you have to play the game. Living is a game. Writing is a game. And you have to have fun, or someone will come along who can do it longer than you and beat you.

Think that if you play, they can’t beat you because your competition sees it as a job.

How to improve your articles

People try to stand out. They try too hard, and that’s why they don’t get readings.

They try to write to be read by an Ivy League professor. But even if the one reading your articles is Elon Musk, he probably does it in the bathroom while doing his business or having a coffee at a Starbucks.

Conclusion: you write for people who use Medium in coffee shops and bathrooms.

It’s not very elegant, but it’s the truth.

Or when do you read the most articles?

In a coffee shop, when after going for a walk with my mother, I want to disconnect from the gossip she tells me about her neighbors.

Remember,

A poet is an artisan who can create a piece of art that will make another person feel something.

In the same way, your articles are pieces of craftsmanship.

You are a goldsmith making an exceptional piece of jewelry that seeks to stand out, entertain, attract attention, and bring something positive to the reader.

If you achieve that, the rest is just a matter of time.

I hope I have helped you.
