If you are a parent with young kids, please teach them this

Reasons why you don’t need to have it figured out between 18–28… no I am not a parent right now, but I’m sure this might be an interesting read that most people would agree with but let me backtrack to my own story for a second.
I grew up in a Muslim culture where yeah the stereotype is kinda true… if you’re not gonna get over 90% in all your classes and then go to university and become a doctor, lawyer, dentist, engineer or an architect then you’re fucked. For those of you that know me, I wasn’t any of those things and I sure as hell wasn’t the smartest in class.
These are the biggest and fastest years of personal growth, who you are at 18 won’t be who you are at 28. The romantic interests you have at 18 won’t be the same style of people you’re into at 28 and same with your professional career, what you do, your other interests in fitness, food, other cultures etc…
Our parents did not have the same scenarios… our grandparents lives were very similar to their own parents. We currently live in the most socially connected generation in an economy where job security isn’t even a thing. Back in the day if you learned a trade you’re set. Now, you don’t know what tomorrow brings… but you can start a YouTube channel, or a Medium blog and turn that into a business all based around a side hobby that you have. We literally live in an age where it’s possible to earn a living playing video games… it wasn’t that long ago when parents would tell their kids “Call of Duty won’t make you money”. My point with that statement is that technology and our culture is adapting faster and faster at a rate that we can’t even keep up with.
Now that I’ve made my point with that, what I wish more parents would do (thankfully I feel more parents especially in the younger generation tapping into this) is let your kids tap into their creativity. Don’t force them to get a degree just for the sake of getting one. I’m not down on university, I currently am a NAIT student finishing my red seal in culinary arts… but that was a conscious choice based on what I knew I wanted to pursue.
Please let me know your thoughts in the comments, I’d love to create some conversation around this.
