Weight loss: if the WHY is important enough, the HOW becomes easy.
Have you ever wanted to lose weight, but never actually succeeded in it?
Well, I got some harsh feedback to give you:
You do not want it enough!
That’s right, let us go back to our weight loss example: everybody who is reading this, knows how to lose weight: you eat less crap and you exercise.
But if it is that easy AND you know the solution for your problem, why is not everybody in great shape?
Simple answer: they do not want it hard enough. That donut, that Big Mac happy meal and those relaxing glasses of whine during the weekend are (unconsciously) more important to you.
Actually, even if you do realise it fully our minds are fantastic in playing tricks on us. We tell ourselves: ‘this time I really deserved that glass of wine, because my boss was so angry at me at work for something I was not responsible for. Or: ‘my baby was so sick today and I did not have time to cook properly for myself yet, so I really deserve that pizza that will be delivered at my doorstep’.
Our own brain tricks us and will do that more and more if it notices that we actually fall for it. What happens is that we get endorphins (happiness hormone) from all the sugary food we are consuming on a daily bases. From an evolutionary standpoint, this makes total sense: sugary foods are high in calories, which make the body survive for a longer period of time.
So, now that we established why we keep eating bad foods, what is the next step?
The next step is making one decision: now I am aware of what my brain is doing to me, am I really going to lose weight or just continue like I was doing before ?
Plant the seed in your head
If you continue like you were doing before, the why was not important for you … and that is fine. Now this little seed is planted in your head and it will slowly grow, trust me.
When it is time to really lose the weight, then you are ready for the next step. You cut out ALL the crap: all the sodas, the white pasta’s, the bread, the pizza’s, the fries, hamburgers, sweets and the million other tasty things I forgot to mention.
When the pain of NOT doing it becomes too hard, then get serious
Losing weight is not hard:
- Eat only lean meats like chicken/turkey/steak
- Make sure you eat your vegetables (ignore the ‘vegetables are carbs, so bad’ BS)
- Make sue to include a lot of eggs/mushrooms/chick peas (high in protein)
- Be sure to eat protein with every meal (3x)
- CYCLE through meals, combining the above. Always eat those same foods, over and over. Add fruits when you are around your target weight.
- Go for a daily walk and hop 30 minutes on a hometrainer. Forget Arnold Shwarzenegger’s bodybuilding routines. Just do 30 squats, push up and situps a day.
- Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day (yes, coffee/tea counts)
- Do NOT eat after 19h pm
- Sleep at least 7 hours, 8 is better.
Note: I worked in a gym, so I actually used this method with a lot of our clients.
SELLS, bad news SELLS. Ignore the BS.
In this fast paced world we are living in, it is vital to understand that getting in shape, is NOT on the priority list of our corporate world. They make billions on selling medications and supplements. Private clinics who perform gastric bypasses make billions. Gym equipment companies make billions. Junk food stores make billions. Please never think that you are not strong enough to actually lose weight: realise people are spending BILLIONS to MAKE you think this way !
CUT out the noise and start doing what is right for YOU!
