If Only You Could See The Scars
A poem on invisible hurts
It pays to be kind and costs nothing
We can be caring as it carries cures
A little compassion can rescue the lost
We can embrace others with burdens unseen
We could usher them into rest readily and easily
If only we could see the scars
Giving water to the thirsty soul
Bandaging and soothing the sore head
Massaging and oiling the aching muscles
Washing and cleansing the thousand-mile feet
All those burdens would easily be lightened
If only you could see the scars
The past pain is lurking
The present pressure is bubbling
The current challenges are compelling
The person in front of you is falling
But catching is only easy with understanding
If only you could see the scars
Understanding the pain behind the punches
Noticing the disappointments behind the eyes
Hearing the screams within the silence
Exploring the push behind the sturdiness
The extraordinary becomes visible to the ordinary
