If Only There Had Been Signs that Matt Gaetz Was a Total Creep

From Florida Man to interstate predator

Matt Gaetz is a tool. Suppose you’re only finding out now because he’s under investigation by the Department of Justice for charges of sex trafficking a minor. In that case, you’re late to the pizza party.

For years this congressional creep has lived up to the “Florida Man” stereotype. With a sycophantic devotion to Donald Trump, no other person better personifies the essence of the MAGA movement and its total lack of accountability for bad behavior.

With his frat-boy antics, this master distractor has a gift for gaslighting critics to deflect from the reprehensible actions of his fellow Republicans. But, as a recent interview with Tucker Carlson proves, Gaetz has been unable to divert attention away from his scandal and seems to be making it worse with each disclosure.

“You and I went to dinner about two years ago,” Gaetz told Carlson. “Your wife was there, and I brought a [under aged?] friend of mine. You’ll remember her.” The stunned white supremacist claimed no recollection, but the look on his fascist face was priceless.

Gaetz now has few defenders within the GOP, aside from Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, who himself was a creepy pedo enabler who allowed the sexual abuse of over a hundred wrestlers during his nine years as a wrestling coach at Ohio State — “allegedly.”

Cowardly Republicans have said little about the allegations, and most professed shock that the man who spawned the hashtag #MattGaetzIsATool could be a sexual predator. But there has been no shortage of creepy behavior by the Trump protégé. Here are some of the highlights of the man Donald Trump called:

“One of the finest and most talented people in Congress.”

Voting Against a Sex Trafficking Bill

In 2017, Gaetz was the only “no” vote on the Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act — a bill designed to expand federal resources to combat sex trafficking. Who the hell would vote NO against a sex trafficking bill? Matt Gaetz, that’s who.

Masking Up to Mock Coronavirus Risk

Gaetz donned a gas mask on the House floor to mock concerns over COVID-19 risk. Just days later, he had to self-quarantine after attending a COVID-infested Conservative Political Action Conference. Several months later, the Trump lackey tested positive for both the ‘Rona and being an asshole.

Hosting a Holocaust Denier

He invited Holocaust denier Charles C. Johnson to the 2018 State of the Union address. He claimed to have no idea who Johnson was, then denied Johnson was a Holocaust denier. “I do not and never have believed the six million figure,” the obvious Holocaust denier posted on Reddit in 2017. What’s that saying about the company you keep?

Storming the SCIF on Behalf of Biff

When the first Trump impeachment inquiry heated up, Gaetz and dozens of his idiot colleagues stormed the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility violating national security protocols. The grandstanding ghouls demanded “transparency,” but the pathetic stunt was a desperate attempt to delay damning testimony and impress their Dear Leader.

Posting Creepy Tweets About Tiffany Trump

Gaetz has a history of creeping on young girls on Twitter, including the failed former president’s daughter Tiffany Trump. He set social media ablaze by posting an emoji response that Twitter users described as “inappropriate,” “creepy,” and “gross,” among other descriptors.

Implying Jamal Khashoggi Had It Coming

He tried to smear Jamal Khashoggi, the Washington Post journalist murdered on Trump ally Mohammed bin Salman’s orders. He questioned whether Khashoggi was a real journalist, but hey, he wants you to know he’s 100% opposed to killing people for their politics. What a relief Matty!

Using “Son” Nestor As a Political Prop

During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on police reform, the mouth-breathing moron got in a heated argument with Rep. Cedric Richmond after the congressman spoke of the injustice Black people like his son regularly have to face.

The numbskull chose that moment to reveal to the world that he has an adopted Cuban “son” named Nestor. He used the young man, whom he never actually adopted, as a political prop meant to undermine Black people’s experience with social injustice. The accused molester made poor Nestor a national punchline while raising eyebrows about the nature of their relationship.

Dodging DUI Charges

He bashed Hunter Biden for his past substance abuse even though he was arrested in 2008 for driving under the influence. He even had the nerve to advocate for drug-testing for the recipients of public assistance despite, according to a recent report by the New York Times, regularly taking the drug ecstasy before having sex. (Excuse me, while I go vomit.)

Going to Prison As a Sex Offender?

It remains to be seen if Gaetz has used up all of his get-out-of-jail-free cards yet. He is expected to be indicted for sex trafficking charges within the next few weeks. While it’s impossible to revel in anything involving the harm and exploitation of a child, never has a politician been so ripe to get his comeuppance.

Matt Gaetz once tweeted that if there were ever a public scandal involving him, he would want it to be called “Gaetzgate.” Now he’s getting a serious dose of reality with a side of karma. If only all Republicans currently spreading the Big Lie and working to destroy our democracy could be held accountable for their actions.
