It describes the tranquility of empty roads and the closeness of families spending more time together, juxtaposed against the somber reality of the crisis reflected in the silence, rainbows of hope, and the loud chirping of birds. If Only

photo from my family trip by Usman Saeed

The silence is serene

Air a little fresher

Rainbows of hope peeking through windows

Birds chirping louder

Sun shining bright on empty roads

It's physical distancing

Socially we are closer

I seem to like this plan

Families together, like never before

If only the silence never broke

If only there was no death and fear

If only the ambulance sirens were not there

It could have been a beautiful dream and not a nightmare
