If Only
A poem about expectations — or love
If I could write anything Anything at all I would still write about you And the way you always made me feel
I would then slip the paper under your door And disappear like a shadow hit by light If only I could run faster than the wind I would still wait patiently for you
And in the darkest hour of your night I would comfort and caress your wounded soul If only you could show me anything Anything at all
