If I Were a Woman I’d Be Livid

My thoughts, and opinions, as a man, on the Patriarchy’s attack on women.

I am a feminist, it comes from having very powerful women in my life and was solidified in marrying my Queen. I have 4 amazing daughters who are strong, intelligent, independent, and willful. Oh, did I mention they are all beautiful as well? They have taught me so much I would like to share some of it.

Disagreement Is Not Phobia

It seems to me that there is a push to delegitimize the role of women as Mothers. As a man, I am completely jealous, envious, and in awe of a WOMAN’S ability to have a baby. To be able to feel another human being growing inside of you, and then to give birth to him or her, is the pinnacle of existence.

For the past 2,500 years or so there has been a campaign to demonize and villainize women. Greco-Roman mythology and Islamic-Judeo-Christian religions would have us believe that women are the cause of all evils. Painting women as unwitting, or sometimes willing, instigators of all the evils in the world.

Look at the stories of Pandora or Eve. We are told that these women, individually in their respective religions, are the single-handed perpetrators for bringing evil into the world.

Who Wrote These Stories?

Lets us look at a few factors before we posit a theory. These stories go back thousands of years to a time that looked way different than our world today. These myths and legends were created by human beings, told by word of mouth in caves, around fires.

As camps grew into villages and we began to use the written word, I believe, things began to change. It wasn’t the biggest and the strongest who were the scribes and learned men. It was, I imagine, a lot like today in that respect. The “geeks” and “nerds” write and draw all of the comics today, they are the modern version of the men of old.

The difference is, the modern mythmakers venerate women. they may be excessive in the stylizing department but the women are strong, capable heroes, not villains.

I believe that it was the ancient version of the “geeks” & “nerds” who created the myths and legends of days past. I also believe that there were a lot of animosities toward women. I can’t imagine ancient people were any less superficial when it comes to appearance. If anything, they were probably pickier.

In a world where infant and toddler mortality was about 4 out of 5, I imagine women wanted strong, virile, capable men who would give them strong healthy babies. Why wouldn’t they? It’s probably why it is so ingrained in us now

The Pen Is Mightier Than the Sword

The men who held the highest ranks of the priesthood, I imagine focused the wrongs of the world on women. Women they wanted but could not have, so they painted them as dumb, naive maidens or willful temptresses bent on man’s ruin.

That’s how the stories go right? Medusa was raped and punished, Persephone was kidnapped and raped, and tricked into marriage. Yet in the myths they are temptresses. How many women did the male “Gods” rape? And they are painted as great and mighty to be worshipped.

Why is Lilith not mentioned in Genesis? I believe she was intentionally left out. You can’t have a religion based on men’s dominion over women if the first woman “God” made wouldn’t submit to her counterpart. So she is banished from the garden, struck from the record, and “God” creates the first woman 2.0.

Eve is painted as the worst. She lies about “God’s” command, she listens to the snake and eats the fruit. She then takes said fruit and seduces Adam into eating it. Adam's punishment is that men will have to now work the land to provide food. Eve’s “punishment” is women will now have to endure painful childbirth and all that comes along with it.

Her punishment to me seems like something a weak-minded, jealous man would view as a punishment. His punishment seems to me to be how a physically weak man who is afraid of manual labor would view a punishment.

We won’t even go into the Catholic churches and it’s Protestant offsprings vilification of women. From Mary Magdalen's portrayal as a whore for hundreds of years to the refusal to acknowledge that Jesus’ mother, Mary had other children. She has to be this pure, virginal maiden for eternity.

I won't even get into Joan of Arc or the witch trials and Inquisitions because the topics nauseate me frankly.

Fast forward to the twentieth century

August 18, 1920. That is the date the 19th amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified and made law of the land. It guarantees that all women who are citizens of the U.S.A. have the legal right to vote.

Women have been treated as second-class citizens and second-class humans for thousands of years. Treated in the media as hysterical, hyper-emotional wrecks, or hyper-sexualized and objectified as if they have no more to offer than pleasuring men.

During WWII women were the reason the Allies won. The U.S. supplied the major portion of arms and ammunition during the war and it was the women of the U.S. that made those products and allowed our fighting forces to prevail. As soon as the men came home, women were once again relegated to the kitchen.

There is still a gender pay gap. Women’s professional sports generate a fraction of what male sports generate. Women have been banned from the PGA, MLB, NFL, NHL, and who knows how many other organizations based on gender alone.

At the close of the 20th century, it seemed as though women were finally getting the respect and moving toward equality as a whole that they so greatly deserve.

Usher in the 21st Century

We are now in an age of gender fluidity and gender reassignment. This is fine if you are so unhappy with who you are that you need to pump your body full of man-made chemicals and have your genitals replaced to feel good about yourself, that is fine, it is your right.

What I see as an attack on womanhood is the whole idea that transwomen and biological women are the same. I’m sorry if this is unpopular but popularity is not my goal. I admire and venerate biological women for their ability to gestate and give birth.

I respect and honor the process that makes this possible. From puberty to menopause you sacrifice your bodies and so much more every month of every year so that we, as a species, can continue on. Man pales in comparison to the awesomeness of Woman.

I write this partly because of all the Shade being thrown on J.K. Rowling, but also over all the controversy in women’s sports.

I do not think trans women should be allowed to compete in women’s sports. It is an unfair biological advantage and for the news media and cancel culture to vilify those who speak on this is terrible. Especially other women, but again, I am a man and this is just my opinion.

I welcome discussion and discourse so please share your thoughts and let me know how you feel on this topic.

This is 100% my opinion and I mean no offense or disrespect to any individual or group.
