If I Let You Go
A Poem
If I let you go will you be ok? Will you be safe in this world without me?
If I let you go will you come back to me on holidays betwixt your life between the fading years of mine?
If I let you go who will take care of you and keep you safe from the rest of the world?
But I raised you to be ready for this world and here I sit hoping you don’t go (without me)
I know I have to let you go for your (my) own good but I think you are already gone
Because I raised you right so I could let you go when the time came and now it’s here and I can’t stop wondering what will happen if I let you go
