Summary

The website content is a reflective poem that contemplates the beauty of nature and the difficulty of choosing a single natural phenomenon to cherish above all others.

Abstract

The poem "If I had to Choose" delves into the poet's musings on the splendor of nature, expressing a deep appreciation for various natural wonders. From the tranquility of a sunrise to the majesty of a full moon, the poem explores the emotional impact of these experiences. It describes the awe-inspiring power of a thunderstorm, the serene beauty of snowfall, and the enchanting sight of wildlife in its natural habitat. The poet also captures the grandeur of snowcapped mountains and the soothing effect of a lake's gentle waters. Ultimately, the poem concludes that selecting just one aspect of nature would be impossible, as each brings its unique color and vibrancy to life, and the absence of any would render the rest monotonous.

Opinions

  • The poet finds immense beauty in the solitude of a sunrise and the quietude of dusk.
  • There is a profound connection felt towards the full moon, close enough to seem within reach.
  • The power of a thunderstorm, with its lightning and pouring rain, is both terrifying and captivating.
  • Snowfall's silent transformation of the landscape is considered a wonder.
  • The sight of an owl taking flight and a fawn feeding are treasured moments of natural grace.
  • The towering presence of snowcapped mountains is seen as an invitation to explore.
  • The calmness of a lake's waters is described as a balm for the heart, mind, and soul.
  • The poet's ultimate opinion is that nature's diversity is essential, and no single element can be chosen over the others without losing the richness of the whole.

If I had to Choose

Poem inspired by this week’s prompt.

Taken By Me

Nature has so many gifts to offer.

I have often wondered which one,

Which I could always have around.

Which wonder would surround?

The solitude beauty of a sunrise?

The waning day gazing at dusk?

The wonder of a full moon so close

You know you can reach out and touch.

Would it be the awesome beauty of a

Dark sky suddenly brought to day amidst

Lightning tearing apart the sky, rain so hard

You see it sheeting, the roof alive with sound.

The silent beauty of large flakes falling gently.

Pine branches painted white, bending from

Accumulated fall. The ground rising while

The sky sheds its weightless perfection.

Maybe the sight of a beautiful owl rising,

Silent wings beating while it takes flight.

Or a fawn on an early morning meal,

Munching on the fresh grown grass.

Taken By Me

Majestic snowcapped mountains

Rising higher than the eye can see,

Clouds shielding the treeless summit

Summoning you to visit the covered crest.

Taken By Me

The quiet whisper of a lakes waters caressing

The nearby shore. The beautiful calm waters

Doing the same to your heart, mind and soul.

Distant view of trees, sky, clouds other shore.

Taken by Me

I know now what I would choose it was easy.

I would have to pick them all, for choosing one

Would be like asking what color would be best

One would get boring without the rest.
