If Ever Two Were One
Until death do us part
Best friends were we, From the day we wore trousers and frocks. Hide and seek was our favorite; You always hide, and I always seek. You made me win every time,
Whenever I cried in fear of losing you We both shared everything for fun; Ending up sharing our hearts for real We had no clue when we fell in love
The exact moment could not be reckoned. A million moments of love we lived, Not sure I fell for which one It was such a heavy fall, I confess.
The day we married was when I felt home; The place I can reside my heart forever
But the next sunrise proved me wrong.
You promised me to return soon. Soon you returned Not in a horse, but in a coffin After a military ambush
The flowers used for decorating the wedding Hadn’t frown yet fully But new flowers were kept. That smelt strange in your soulless body
The bed mattress was folded. I stood beside the death bed of yours, Your broken promise is all I had
A beautiful journey with you ended nowhere. All those memories were fresh in my heart; Like it was yesterday, we played hide and seek.
This time you hid permanently even after my endless weeps, I was still seeking for you in my dreams.
My smiles had changed. How strange life can get! It offered me all the happiness in the world. Only to take it away from me.
Sixty years had passed. All I would wish is to Lay next to you When I’m gone
If given a choice, To have loved and lost you. Or not knowing you?
I would still choose to love you and lose you.
I penned down my vehement thoughts; With bruises in my heart
For the world must know, The greatest love story ever lived.
If ever two were one, until death did us part
