If Christmas is Cancelled
A poem about Christmas

If Christmas is cancelled I want you to know, That the presents can wait beneath the stairs. The food will keep, there’s space in the fridge, And the wrapping paper will remain without tears.
Elves? Take the day off. Go to the zoo, Take the reindeer's for a stroll in the snow. Santa’s having a lie in, his phone is on charge, Now that he’s got nowhere to go.
If Christmas is cancelled, then we’ll learn how to wait, No gifts — but patience is found. I’ll practise my kissing beneath regular plants, And leave regular pies on the ground.
I’ll put it on hold, all of it for you, Because none of these things even matter. If you’re not beside me, scoffing your face, Smiling bright beneath your merry ol’ chatter.
If Christmas is cancelled, I really don’t mind, Because one thing that will never come to end. Is my love for you — each day of each year. I’d even skip Halloween for you, my friend.
