Israeli Occupational Forces Kill Three Surrendering Israelis

Because Israeli soldiers thought they were surrendering Palestinians — the people they routinely shoot on sight

Israeli Occupational Forces (read: their Army on foot) killed three possibly escaped (Israeli) hostages initially captured by Hamas. Alon Shamriz, Samer Talalka, and Yotam Haim were their names. They were killed on December 15th, 2023.

Israel’s military says it has discovered distress signals in a Gaza building where three Israeli captives were sheltering before they were mistakenly shot dead by Israeli troops.

The signs, which read “SOS” and “Help, three hostages” in Hebrew, were found in a building in the Shujayea suburb of Gaza City, military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said on Sunday. ~ Al Jazeera, December 2023

So, there were signs that said “S.O.S.” constructed for the Israeli Occupational Forces to read.

I guess the Israeli troops must have thought it meant “shoot on sight”.

They also were waving a white flag on a stick, shirtless, indicating they were neutral, no threat, and unarmed. They were identified roughly ten meters away; the same distance it takes for a first down in American football. Yet, they were still shot dead by Israeli soldiers.

Being that I listen to Palestinians in America, this is not a surprise to me. If you ask me, it was only a matter of time until we got news of Israel killing Israelis. Do you know why? Because Palestinians have been telling us that Israeli Occupational Forces always shoot first, that’s why. If you listened to Palestinians speak from their experience, you wouldn’t be surprised.

Declared safe zones in Gaza have been bombed by Israel.

Numerous war crimes have been inflicted upon the Palestinian people, by Israel.

Israeli Occupational Forces have been killing unarmed children for no reason other than the fact it’s a Palestinian they are shooting. Add the fact that Israeli Occupational Forces love to cross-pollinate their tactics with American police forces, no one should be surprised this happened.

The Israeli Soldier had “reason to fear for his life”. Israeli soldiers Breonna Taylor’d those three Israeli men.

“They’re all without shirts and they have a stick with a white cloth on it. The soldier feels threatened and opens fire. He declares that they’re terrorists. They (the Israeli forces) open fire. Two (hostages) are killed immediately,” the official told reporters in a phone briefing.

The third hostage was wounded and retreated into a nearby building where he called for help in Hebrew, the official said. “Immediately the battalion commander issues a ceasefire order, but again there’s another burst of fire towards the third figure and he also dies,” the official said. “This was against our rules of engagement…” ~ Reuters, December 2023

Additionally, the act of killing these three young men was a violation of the rules of engagement when it comes to modern warfare. But Israel has been everything except respectful of the laws of war and combat during this entire crisis (read: genocide).

Israeli Forces are Indiscriminate Killers

I’ll have to step in and call it as I see it — Israeli Occupational Forces kill people indiscriminately. There is a total disregard for (Palestinian) human life.

You see, it’s remarkably hard to mistake surrendering people for *ahem*, surrendering people. The white flag is a universal sign of neutral no-harm. The problem lies in the fact that the Israeli soldiers mistaken the Israelis seeking refuge with Palestinians seeking refuge. Had these Israeli soldiers shot three innocent Palestinians in cold blood, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the killings “broke his heart, broke the entire nation’s heart,” with no change in Israel’s genocidal campaign. Guess it didn’t break his heart.

Alon Shamriz was 26 years old. Samer Talalka was 24, and Yotam Haim was 28.

It was only a matter of time until we got wind of Israel’s military force killing escaped Israeli hostages. There are a lot of Israeli war-doctrine supporters who think that Hamas must release hostages before Israel stops the bombing campaign. My question to those who think that dumb shit is how? Indiscriminate bombing of a land space must end — ceasefire — before hostages are released.

What sense does it make to release hostages while missiles and rockets are splashing all over the place?

People who talk this dumb shit make it clear they have a large preference for the genocide of Palestinian people over the release of Israeli hostages.

The refusal of a ceasefire can no longer be considered a pro-Israel argument. If a permanent ceasefire existed, those three Israelis would have come back home alive. While Soldiers accidentally killing hostages can be quickly confirmed, accidental killings by bombs, missiles, and rockets cannot. Right now we have no idea how many Israelis got killed by Israeli bombs, missiles, and rockets.
