Our Bible study leader is an absolute blessing!

Through our weekly meetings, we keep up to date with the needs of our community and church. We are always ready to lend a hand to those who require assistance with meals, transportation to medical appointments, or visits to healthcare facilities.

Ms Constance, our leader, is committed to addressing societal issues and spreading awareness while encouraging empathy.

At our most recent meeting, our leader shared valuable life lessons that inspired us to treat others with kindness & consideration. I wrote these down in my journal & I am eager to share these insights with Medium friends.

She reminded us about good manners:

  • Make a conscious effort to be mindful of other people’s emotions & conditions and refrain from causing any unnecessary discomforts with your actions or habits.
  • Make sure to hold the door open for the person following behind you, regardless of their gender or age. Remember, treating others with kindness in public does not diminish your own character.
  • If someone doesn’t answer your call, give them time to respond at their convenience.
  • One way to display your honesty is by promptly returning any borrowed items or money.
  • When someone is treating you to a meal, avoid ordering the most expensive item on the menu.
  • It is not appropriate to inquire about personal matters such as marital status, children, or property ownership. Such information is private and not your concern.
  • Remember to respect different opinions, as what may be a 6 to you may appear as a 9 to someone else facing you. Plus, a second opinion can provide a valuable alternative.
  • Be a good listener and allow people to speak without interruption. Listen to all opinions before filtering them.

  • When a colleague informs you of a doctor’s appointment, it’s best to offer support by saying, “I hope you’re okay,” rather than asking for specifics about their illness. It’s inappropriate to make them feel uncomfortable or obligated to share personal information. If they want to share, they will do so at their discretion.
  • Always show respect to everyone, regardless of their position.

  • It is considered impolite to look at your phone while someone is speaking to you directly.
  • Only provide advice when it is explicitly requested.
  • Please do not inquire about someone’s age and salary when reconnecting with them after a long time unless they mention it themselves. Our priority should be to catch up and enjoy each other’s company instead of discussing personal matters.
  • It’s important to be mindful of others’ circumstances when conversing. Avoid discussing your wealth around those who are struggling financially, just as you wouldn’t want to bring up your children around someone who is unable to have children of their own. Let’s all strive to be considerate and empathetic in our interactions with others.

We were all grateful for our leader’s insight in sharing these valuable tips for better living.
