I Would Have Been Earning $500 a Month but I Wasted One Year Online

That one-year break left me in the dust

I started writing on Medium in July of 2020. I wrote three stories in that month and earned $2.12. But after that, I didn’t write a single word online for a whole year.

I still feel very disappointed when I talk about it because If I had not stopped writing, I would be making $500 today.

Now I think, why do I stop writing? — Because nothing was stopping me from writing on Medium. I had no obstacles that could have stopped me from writing. I had no job and even no studies due to the pandemic.

Even though I knew that Medium or any online job takes time to achieve success, Medium has also given me a good start because I have earned $2.12 in my first month. Although I have seen Medium’s top writer Zulie Rane’s first-month earnings, I don’t remember it accurately, but it was not even a dollar. I think it was $0.02 or $0.20. But now, she is making $5000 on average every month.

Think about it, If I had spent that year on Medium, I am sure I would be earning over $500 every month.

I didn’t write a single word for a year, but I am happy that I started in July 2020. Because now I don’t have to complete the requirements of 100 followers to get monetized here.

I have more than 100 followers now, but I have achieved it at the end of this month. If I wouldn’t have started earlier, the story would have turned out differently.

Conclusion

The conclusion of this story is, don’t leave anything in between. Give every online job some time. It will start growing and give you some success after a year or two.
