I Would Be the Scarlet Witch

Impossible is not in my vocabulary

Karen Schwartz asked what superpower we would choose for ourselves, if we could.

I’d choose the Scarlet Witch’s superpower, to manipulate probability. In the first comic I read of hers, she was surrounded by bad guys with machine guns. She waved her hand, and… one fellow’s gun jammed, one spontaneously expelled the magazine, and one had a wardrobe malfunction making him fall.

She didn’t do anything to them. It was just bad luck.

She got what she desired — getting away from the bad guys — and no one had to fight or get hurt.

I decided then and there that I wanted that superpower.

And perhaps I did get it. After all, I manifest all sorts of things in my life that seem (to others) to be highly improbable.
